pests Didn't Find These in the Pinned Pest Guide

Makes strange little crescent shaped bites out of leaves.  Knocked this one off the underside of a leaf where he was hanging out.    Going to town on my plants right now.  Arrgh!  Any help with ID and treatment?

    Could Somebody Take a Look?

Rickster - that'd be great.  Could drop by this weekend if you're around.   Spicy and Aaron TT - they're 25 gallon pots - 27 in. diameter.  I understand the crowding issue but have had great success with square foot gardening in the past.  My last couple grows had 16-20 plants per 4X4 raised...

    Could Somebody Take a Look?

TXCG - very helpful - will check it out and let you know.    Rjacobs - I said 3-5 but it is truly only when limp.  Have been moving them in and out of shade to try and harden since I can't bring the pots in.  Use 1.5 gallons across 4 large pots with about 3 tbs of nutes when I fertilize.  There...

    Could Somebody Take a Look?

Mixed soil about half peat (sunshine mix) quarter happy frog and quarter oceans harvest.  Planted about a month ago as seedlings from Home Depot.  Watering ever 3-5 days with organic ferts 1x weekly (had just rained a little before pic).  Wind and hail has been rough this spring but some of this...

    Returning Newbie from North Texas

Howdy - had great success with first two crops in '13 and '14 because of help from this forum.  Lived in Northern KY at the time and had great harvests.  Have moved to McKinney, TX area now and finally got a new crop planted.  Trying to adapt to different climate and hoping for another bountiful...

Need Preservation Tip - Chile Verde

Now that is a definite plan.  Labor Day's right around the corner.  Might have to learn to make chile rellenos and jalapeno poppers.  I dehydrated 2 lbs of cayenne for powder, canned 6 pints of salsa, a pint of pepper jelly and 3 pints or roasted Anaheims with garlic.  I roasted off like 4...

Need Preservation Tip - Chile Verde

The Burpee seed pack just said Chile Verde Hybrid - they're basically Anaheims, I think.   Eggs and peppers are awesome. For some reason, I had pickling/canning on the brain and all I could see in my head were those pink eggs in jars that you see in convenience stores and gas stations.  I...

Need Preservation Tip - Chile Verde

Wow - thanks guys.  I was definitely planning on some of these suggestions.  Definitely making pepper jelly and pickling the jals and pepperocinis.  Going to dry the cayennes and make power.  Will can some salsa as well.  I just didn't account for those chile verde.  I like the pepper relish...

    Confused

OK...I would probably agree with the first pic (except for the fact that I didn't expect the color).  I just thought the external appearance of the two types were so different.  The second pic just look like a totally different pepper.  Guess I'll find out.  :)

Thanks, all.  Has been a lot of fun this year.   Phil - that big stack is Chile Verde - very similar to Anaheim.  I asked for tips over on the cooking forum for preserving all of these.  More prolific than I expected.  Almost 12 pounds of just chile verde.  I'm thinking I'll freeze most of what...

    Confused

I planted several varieties and did a poor job of managing labels so I did lose track if certain plants.  However, once fruit started to show, I was able to figure most of it out and match it back to the seed pack.   These two, however are confusing.  I've narrowed it down to hot lemons...

Need Preservation Tip - Chile Verde

My first harvest was great but chile verdes were more prolific than expected with over 11 pounds. I will be canning and dehydrating tomorrow.   Does anyone have a good preservation solution?   If not, am thinking about just freezing but wanted to check.

First time grower of anything.  2 4X4 raised beds, 7 pots, 47 plants.  Seeded in March.  Just pulled 24 pounds 4 ounces.  I will be busy canning and dehydrating tomorrow.  Many thanks to the patrons of this forum for support and education.  Second harvest coming shortly once the habs ripen.

Any ideas? What could be the issue?

Ah...thanks for the clarification, BC. I knew I had read something about the two.  Got it backwards.

Any ideas? What could be the issue?

I'm a first year grower so I'll defer to the experts but it looks like blossom end rot (BER) to me.  Lots of posts on the forum if you search for it.  Caused by calcium deficiency; certain varieties require more calcium than others which is why it can effect one plant and not a different variety...
