    preservation Vinegar alternatives

Look into coconut vinegar. Sold at local grocery stores here in CA. Comparable to apple cider vinegar, but slightly different flavor profile. Pineapple vinegar is another one I'm playing with, locally made out here, and insanely delicious. I've got a jerk hot sauce in the works with that one.

fermenting Using smoked peppers to make hot sauce

I just recently did something similar and had no problem with them fermenting. I smoked a combination of ghosts and a few Fresno's, as well as tomatoes for about 20 minutes. Added fresh garlic, bell pepper, onion, and some spices to a salt water brine. No problem with fermentation and had tons...

    2019 Hay Bale Pepper Patch

You may be surprised man, they can definitely go dormant or semi-dormant even outdoors.  My buddy overwintered a Sugar Rush, B. Goat and Fatali this past winter outside in ground. They went gangbusters this spring. I think if you can keep the rootzones insulated you have a shot. The plant...

    chinense Scotch Bonnet Freeport Orange?

I would maybe keep them labeled as Freeport, maybe with a (peach) designation and see how they grow out next year? They were definitely purchased and labeled as Freeport Orange, seeds came from me by the way Roper. Justin's pheno does look a little more peachy in his pictures as well, but most...

    How about Tomatoes and Eggplant?

I haven't seen anything to indicate they aren't taking new members. As of two weeks ago there was a flush of new members posting their "Intro" posts so I would think so. It almost seems like Mishcka goes through once a month and activates new accounts, its definitely not a daily thing. Did...

    How about Tomatoes and Eggplant?

Keep trying. One day once you've forgotten about it you'll be activated. It is definitely a wealth of knowledge for all things tomato and yes, even eggplants. Lol.  Still have to know how to sift through the BS though, just like with all these sites.   I've been on T-ville for years before...

    seeds Online seed sites

I agree with DWB, in terms of selection, heirloom and hard to find seeds in general, hard to beat them. Free shipping and almost always throw in some extra seeds.  With that being said you wont find some of the pepper crosses and newer exotics you would at Refining fire, WHP, Etc.  Also...

    DF 2019 Veg Glog

By body I'd assume you mean texture/crunch in the Pink Bumblebee? That's one of my least favorite traits about the bumblebee series when it comes to fresh eating, they are all tasty though. Looks like you had a few spilt even? Ive never seen that with those because of their thicker skin...

wanted Wtb: variety live plants, local Sacramento CA pick up

I'm with you on plants from Duffy, more issues than successes for me. Seeds have been fine though. Reach out to me next spring and I should have extras. I gave away about 6, 1 gallon smart pots with well established plants to friends back in April.

Ghost Pepper Plant Flowers No Pollen

Wont make a difference. Its still too hot during the day for successful fruit set. Flowers sure, but you'll have a tough time getting pollination regardless. My plants that were put out earlier season are loaded with pods waiting to ripen, but the ones that were planted later were only able to...

Ghost Pepper Plant Flowers No Pollen

TheNECM nailed it, its just to hot right now, All of my plants are doing the same. June-Aug is tough on pollination and fruit set for both peppers and tomatoes. Keep them alive and by next month should start seeing pods set again with hopefully enough time to ripen before frost. Anytime we get...

    Sunflower help

I'll just add that you can avoid all of that, by direct seeding sunflowers. One of the easiest and quickest flowers to grow from direct seed, and they can be finicky with transplanting anyway. If you soaked a new batch of seeds and planted directly, in 2-3 weeks time they'd be as tall or taller...

    Mulch

That solely depends on what type of hay or straw and how it was cut, they are different things. That's also part of the reason I use newspaper first, keeps any stray weeds seeds from proliferating. The occasional seed that do germinate are easily pulled by hand. The pros in moisture retention...
