    vendor Crazy Hot Seeds

Ajdrew, I get it. $5 for a whole season of enjoyment. 95% of what I grow is for the love of the hobby and the flavor. I've got 10 different breeds planned this year that range from Cayenne to Bhut. But I'm a pepper enthusiast too and it matters to me deliberately tries to mislead me. It also...

Buckeye Pepper Company has been very good to me as well. Mike and Jen are great people.

    vendor Crazy Hot Seeds

Buddies and I at work had nothing new and interesting going on in the superhot family. Why not try the infamous Chocolate Bhutlah, right? So I talked them into splitting an order of seeds from Crazy Hot Seeds. It would appear that the consensus here (including Steven McLaurin himself) is that...

    Post Your Crappy Spicy Food

Here's plan to get rid of leftover home made Cincinnati Chili while at work (it's runny chili with pie spices instead of chili spices):   Step One:  Add ramen noodles so there's something to grip.       Step Two: Make it spicy enough with powders so you don't have to worry what it tastes like...

    Smoked flavor in powders

We finally had the powder tasting event at work so that each of us could objectively determine what we liked best.  We used red beans and rice as a neutral vehicle to sample all of our powers.  They include:   Joyner's: Smokin Banshee Chocolate Lava Smoked Habanero 7 Pot Jonah Smoked Fire  ...

Possible to save my habanero plant?

They have been hardened off and had all been doing quite well for about a week.  Then several days ago, this one started to go down hill in a hurry when we started getting a lot of rain.  This one may have been moved out of 60% shade into 40% shade several days ago, but I haven't been expecting...

Possible to save my habanero plant?

I had a raised garden bed filled this spring with 60% dirt (probably clay heavy), 20% leaf mulch, and 20% sand by a local company.  I had a bit too much dirt so I saved some in 10 gal planters.  I had some Habanero plants growing indoors since November that I've recently moved outdoors into...

    Long pepper & Black peppercorns

I was reading an article that has me hooked on the idea, Peppercorn Varieties, at Pepper-Passion.com: http://pepper-passion.com/peppercorn-varieties/   I don't remember where I heard about Long Pepper, but the idea that it was almost altogether abandon over a millennium ago due to the relative...

    Long pepper & Black peppercorns

Not exactly Hot Peppers, but close.  Has anybody tried growing any heirloom peppercorn seeds (piper nigrum) or long pepper (piper longum)?  I hadn't heard of long pepper until recently and I was hoping to try growing a some.  I'm also tempted to believe I could do a better job than my grocery...

    Smoked flavor in powders

I ordered 5 samples from Chris @ Joyners to try a few out.   I appreciate the advice and I'm excited to give these a try.   Between the two friends at work and I, we'll have something like 12 or more powders to sample at a taste testing party that range from several distributors to home-made and...

    Smoked flavor in powders

Thanks for the great advice.  I'll go for low temp smoking and dehydration and give it a try this weekend.  I'm also trying a few samples of Joyner's Hot Peppersto help me get through the spring.

    Smoked flavor in powders

A guy at work brought in some outstanding powders from http://volcanicpeppers.com/ that he received as a gift and they have opened our eyes to the potentials of powdered hots and super hots.  Even though they're pricey, I won't be able to resist picking up a jars from this site before my 2014...

Spicy Chickens cheap grow boxes, anyone can do it. ;-) post 30 forward

Yep, I meant the raised beds.  I appreciate the feedback... If I move that much dirt around with a shovel and wheelbarrow, I'm going to hope it lasts a long time  ;)

Spicy Chickens cheap grow boxes, anyone can do it. ;-) post 30 forward

I love these grow boxes and it's just the sort of project I've got to get working on in a couple of weeks.  The only thing that worries me is that the frost / thaw of Ohio would shift those posts around after a few seasons.  Can anybody give me any suggestions on how to seasonproof this concept...
