Romy6, I heard that "pruning" roots can have the same effect as pruning above ground foliages.
Not sure if there is truth to it, but worth looking into it!
Yeah they are super tangled, I'll just roll with it since they are super healthy...it is the purple tomatillo that went ape ish over night Yesterday was nute/water day and man oh man they went nutz
Maybe don't try to separate roots and transplant on the same day. Detangling / pruning roots and giving plants a day or two to recover before potting up may alleviate transplant shock. No experience - just talking out of my ass.
When I'm xplanting a hot mess of roots I will just throw about an inch of new dirt into the bigger container put the mess in then keep piling in soil and dragging the plant up through it so untangles a bit and long roots stay on the bottom.
