How to dry out hot peppers so you can same them for later??

When I've dehydrated indoors in the past I've used a spare room and stuck a towel under the door... reminded me of college.

    Where to get worms?

You can order them online from a number of places but I stopped by a local gardening/farm store and they had some. If they don't, they'll probably know who does, as it seems to be a growing trend right now.   I just started my vermicomposter last weekend, hopefully they're doing alright so far.

    Sweety Drop Peppers

Bumping this.   Just had some of these sweety drops for the first time this weekend, man I wanted to eat a whole bowl of them.   Did any one nail down what strain these are? I think for sure the brine/liquid they come in sweetens them up, which they mention in this...

    The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2017

I'll be pretty much between Roseburg and Eugene. I'm ready to get out there.

    The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2017

I'm moving to Oregon in three weeks. Started growing peppers two years ago and am so glad to see this GLOG!   I might look around for some starts once I move, since it'll be too late for me to plant anything from seed, but next year you can expect to see me in the PNW GLOG.   I'm going to try...

    Jamaican beef patties (meat hand-pies)

I need to see if there's anywhere around me to get them, making them wasn't hard but I could for sure see myself eating these drunk... or hungover. As for the recipe, SeriousEats is the shit, I use their recipes all the time. Thanks!

    Jamaican beef patties (meat hand-pies)

I thought the same thing before checking the recipe out. Our friend who lived in Jamaica for a while suggested we make them using our scotch bonnets and I was a little skeptical of just making meat patties.    I just ate another two for lunch and I have three thoughts. They reheat very well as...

    Jamaican beef patties (meat hand-pies)

My girlfriend and I made jamaican beef patties last night from this SeriousEats recipe. Holy crap, they turned out way better than expected for our first try, and the scotch bonnet right out of our garden was killer. I'd use even more next time.     If anyone is interested in making this, here's...

    SeaDud's GLOG

Update from this weekend.     Nice little harvest on Saturday, a few scotch bonnets and a handful of aji pineapples. Used the scotch bonnets in Jamaican meat patties last night, holy shit were they good.       Bishops are still on their way in, nothing ripe yet but I'm excited to chomp on a few...

Storm took a branch off one of my scotch bonnets, advice?

Thanks for the responses guys, I think I'm going to make some salsa tomorrow (tried one today and it was still damn tasty) and then try ripening the remainder in different ways to see what works the best

Storm took a branch off one of my scotch bonnets, advice?

Big storm rolled through Chicago yesterday and took this nicely laden branch off one of my SBs. Any advice on trying to ripen them? I've done a bit of reading but figured it'd be worth asking here as well. Anyone have success with the paper bag method? Add a banana? An apple? Just put them in a...

    Comptine's Swedish Glog 2016

Great looking grow! I've got a couple aji pineapples as well and they're my favorite so far. It's hard to not eat one right off the plant when checking on them in the mornings.

Been having a few ripened pods here and there (still only thai and aji pineapple) but I did some pruning over the weekend to tame the plants a bit and make sure no limbs would break later on. I munched on a few unripened scotch bonnets, and even half of one of the bhuts, those are going to be...

What was the last spicy meal you cooked?

No pictures sadly but Tuesday I made Thai Basil Chicken with some Large Thai peppers from the garden. Very basic recipe, great flavor, good heat!   Last night was shrimp stir fry with a handful of Aji Pineapples, ginger, garlic, green onion, bell pepper, bean sprouts, and udon noodles. I think...

    SeaDud's GLOG

Handful of pineapples and thai's have come in, my girlfriend and I have eaten both right off the plant now. The thai really had a delayed heat, we were laughing "isn't this supposed to be like 7x hotter than the aji pineapple?" and then it got us. Great flavor though!   Making Thai Basil Chicken...

Things are coming along! Staked several of the peppers, it was getting pretty windy last week. Orange Thais are ripening but seem to be turning red rather than orange for now. Also, one plant's looks much thicker than the other... almost Jalapeno like. I've never grown Thais before, so maybe...

    SeaDud's GLOG

Peppers are starting to fill out, save for one of the Aji Bishops. I 100% should have topped it, and now its tall and awkward. I might try and prune the ends back to encourage lower growth, but it might be too late for that. Besides that, we're looking good.  Orange Thais have a few pods each...

    SeaDud's GLOG

Aji Pineapple, Bishop, and Orange Thai are all flowering, but while checking on them this morning I noticed one of the two Thais has it's first baby pepper on it.  It's the most. wonder-ful timeee. of the yearrrrrrrr!

Peppers are finally outside! Between the cold spring, tons of rain, and all the weddings we've been out of town for, I thought they were going to live under bulbs forever. I hope they're hardened off enough, they're in full sun today!
