    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

Sorry, I seem to be updating this far too often :P Can't help it if I'm busy I suppose. Filled up the first 16 7.5cm pots ready to transplant some of these plants into individual pots this weekend. I didn't want to do it straight from the garage so I'm allowing the soil to heat up a bit before...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

Finger's crossed I sign on the dotted line for a 60ft x 14ft allotment on Saturday. This means things have to step up a gear. Not only that, ity also gives me space for a 6ft x 8ft greenhouse to grow my superhots    The new grow list comprises of   Superhots 2x Naga Morich (Planted) 2x...

wanted Looking For Cumari Do Para (Pimenta Cumari) Seeds

Hi there,   Does anyone know where I can find seeds for Cumari Do Para chillies from Brazil? The PA in work is Brazillian and we were talking about chillies from her home town and these came up. Looking at them, they look perfect for my 2017 grow here in the UK   Thanks

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

Been away for a few days and made sure the capillary matting was damp enough to last. Came back to some serious improvement. Starting to get the first true leaves coming through on the first plants now. I've also invested in a labeller and I can barely ready my own writing half the time ...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

Finally had the new tube turn up. It a whiter light than the fish tank one I have been using but more importantly, it now gives off much more light Thought I'd share a few shots of the seedlings while I'm at it....I'm practicing with my DSLR for playing about with settings ;)

overwintering Can I encourage this Cayenne to thrive over winter?

Yup, keeping an eye on the soil....   I'm looking at a watering around the outside of the pot about once a fortnight at the moment with a half strength nutrient mix - seems to be working for this one and the little Habenero I'm teasing into life :)

overwintering Can I encourage this Cayenne to thrive over winter?

Just an update - I can safely say that the Cayenne is trying...   This was taken this morning     Fingers crossed this is just the start of it bushing out. I'm feeding it a Nitrogen based plant food at the moment to help with leaf production. I'll switch to a more phosphate one once it has...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

The matting is working REALLY well. Far happier about it now and can see no real need to spritz them either.... The Cayenne was a bit of a surprise, I really thought that would have been up first. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they have, it was more of an expectation vs reality moment. I...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

Hey All, time for a bit of an update. Been struggling with coming up with a perfect solution to keep the seedlings moist without soaking them now they are exposed under a lighting tube. It's proved to be trickier than I had imagined. Final solution has been to upturn a lid from an old storage...

seeds Watering new seedlings under artifical lighting?

Actually, that really helps a lot, thanks :P   So the 2 I have taken the covers off, I have now got the mat underneath wet and I'll give them a spritz morning and night. I'll monitor the mat and the grow pods (I am using the pots that you bury and they decompose into part of the soil structure...

seeds Watering new seedlings under artifical lighting?

OK, so they are stood on capillary matting....How about once a week soaking the matting and once a day giving them a spritz to keep the surface damp?   I'm just nervous at this point, once they have their first set of true leaves, I know what I'm doing. It's getting them to that stage I want to...

seeds Watering new seedlings under artifical lighting?

I have a spritz bottle I can use, so that's OK, I also have them on capillary matting......   So, should I make sure the soil is damp in the morning and give them a spritz later on as a top up? It's this first stage I'm not 100% on

seeds Watering new seedlings under artifical lighting?

Hey Guys, Been searching high and low and can't seem to find a definative answer... When bringing on seedlings under artificial lighting, how often do you water them and how do you do it? I've noticed that under the lamp now I have removed the propagtor lid on the 2 that have sprouted, it is...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

It's all coming together nicely  Took an old reflector and modified it to suit a 600mm tube rather than the 750mm it is design for. Unfortunately the LED "System" I bought is a pile of poop and not suitable for the transformer I have here. Luckily, I suspected it may be the case so...

    MR2Jay's 2017 UK Heat Adventure

OK, thinking outside the box here for a minute, thinking ahead to the next stage, potting on and bringing on the plants. Bear with me, I'm almost thinking out loud here ;) Now, the propagator isn't big enough to carry all of these plants through the next stage, it's designed to germinate the...
