    End of my first season

The most important thing is to say thank you to those who gave me seeds. Thanks so very much. I have a heartfelt appreciation. Ive done the Jals and cayenes before (gateway peppers) but this was my first exotic season. At every point things went wrong begining with the foster cat who ate most...

The fruitless efforts for the ultimate lawn

Well I have begun to tear my hair out and its not even really warm here yet. I have a hippy mentality for organics and know deep down that a gorgeous lawn is a sin against my nature but I want it anyway. Soooo after three years with this bastard grass I got the urge to do the pre-emergent...

    crafting solutions from crap

OK I have a 3 foot by 4 foot window saved from a window replacement. Its one of those two plate deals with the seal broken so its cloudy inside. It still has the plastic frame around it. How can I use this as a cold frame or a micro green house or some sort of thing to make my peppers happy?

Took a tour of a grower

On my travels I stopped in a greenhouse/grower that is geared to wholesale flowers but they showed me around. It was a chance to get a little treatment for spring fever. The whole operation is a giant glass house filled with baskets of geraniums and others. They do sell seeds and some things...

    another disaster

I got an instant message from my friend where my germination trays are. His foster cat has removed all the covers from the three 72 cell trays and eaten many of the pepper and the ones not eaten are dried out. I havent seen the damage yet but one kitty might be sent back by tomorrow. I am...

    a noob confession

Well when I decided I wanted to spend less money on crappy food and eat better for less of course my pepper addiction got the green light. So Im gonna confess I have never eaten a habanero, and until today never saw one either. I went to the local chain grocery store and checked them out...

    Hibiscus bloomed in February

I woke up to not just one but two gorgeous blooms on my overwinterd hibiscus this morning. I think all that snow reflected more light into the window and could have helped. ;)

    Jalepenos the gateway drug

I got into peppers when a mystery pack of vegies at wally world turned out to be Jals and I loved them so much. There is so little variety for plant starts in my area that I just have to grow my own seeds and after 3 years of buying starts I'm:onfire: doing that now. Funny thing happened last...
