    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

It wasn't a recent repotting, no. I think the repotting I had done had been... a month, maybe two earlier. There wasn't any weed poison in the ground then. The backyard was sprayed after that, and I made sure my plants were safe inside for a few days after that. I am using tap water, and it is...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

Any idea on what counts as "good" soil? Last time I just picked up a bag of fruiting plant potting soil from Wal-Mart (and with as much ambiguity as there is in this whole sickness, for all I know could be the cause. I doubt it, but then who's to say for certain?) But I'll give that mix a try...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

Rabid48: Generally I'll go through the 2-gallon watering bucket, which used to take a day but now takes three with fewer plants, twice before I'd just do regular water in the watering can three or four times. Dave2000: Alright, I'll take those precautions into effect. That'll at least be one...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

Eh, I did. None of them seemed to be quite to be quite the same case. With those it was the blossoms or buds dropping off completely, but there didn't seem to be other symptoms. This the buds dry up and remain on the plant, while the plants themselves have just died off one by one as they...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

Interesting note that I realized I forgot to mention; I planted some seeds shortly before this whole ordeal began for habaneros, tepins, anaheims, and jalapenos. None of them have sprouted (since I planted them close to 6 weeks ago) and I finally decided to dig them up and see if they even took...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

When you say 1/4 to 1/2, how do you mean? Generally I'm mixing it to 1 tablespoon for 2 gallons of water.

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

I have not been adding any kind of fertilizer. the only additive I've used recently is a Miraclegro mixture in the water. The soil itself is roughly 50% dirt from my backyard, which is almost a clay, and 50% potting soil made for fruiting plants.

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

Yeah, I did look at the roots on one of the plants that had died. Weird thing is, the root system looked like it belonged to a healthy, perfectly alive plant. But on this particular plant, everything else was brown, dry, and dead. There were no fungi I could discern either. I pulled up another...

    Dying Chili Pepper Buds

A recent epidemic has swept through my plants, killing most of them. Only two remain now, a cayenne and a bhute jolokia. However, despite surviving, these two that survived still show signs they are sick. The most notable is any buds they develop shirvel up and die, thus unless I can find a cure...

    Sudden Plant Sickness?

I sure hope it's not that. It hasn't affected the last fruit on the oldest plant that I haven't picked yet, but that plant itself doesn't seem to have gotten it either. Here's some images. On this one, you can see two things; one is the blackening and wilting of the leaves, the other is the...

    Sudden Plant Sickness?

Howdy! Well, concern for my plants (cayenne, bhute jolokia, and jalapeno) has risen considerably in the past few minutes. I went outside to water my plants and found several of them shrivelled and many of the leaves blackened to varying degrees. This was the first day of moving the plants...

What Spiders should I Watch Out For?

The package of mites I got contained three predatory mites: Phytoseiulus persimilis, Neoseiulus californicus, and Mesoseiulus longipes.

What Spiders should I Watch Out For?

I can understand that. They have definetely helped take care of many other pests, though it doesn't seem they go for the accursed spider mites. But I'm concerned about them eating my predatory mites. Are they likely to?

What Spiders should I Watch Out For?

Hello good people! So a week ago I would not have cared much for this topic. I've seen spiders climbing around my plants, many I've never seen before and thus entertaining me with their wild varieties of shapes and sizes. One of the unique ones I really liked seeing was a Green Lynx Spider...

    Assorted but Unsorted Chili Seeds

Really? So then they'll be easy to distinguish from Anaheims and Jalapenos, I take it. Well cool.

    Assorted but Unsorted Chili Seeds

Hello! So, got a conundrum for ya'll. I recently bought a packet of various chili seeds. One pack contains Habanero, one Anaheim, and another Jalapeno. There is a fourth packet as well, but it isn't so specific. The seeds inside are an assortment of Jalapeno, Anaheim, and Tepin. It's the Tepins...

    Ghost Chili Leaves Splotching

It's an interesting possibility, that there's sunlight focusing on and burning the plant, especially since it is somewhat (not super closely, but there is a possible correlation) corresponding to the new greenhouse I built for it. It's a basic, piece-of-junk design made with a K-nex frame and...

    Ghost Chili Leaves Splotching

Overwatering. Okay, I will back off on the water. I forgot they do not need as much water as some tropical plant or something along those lines. I took care of the mites mainly by squishing them. Since I was only controlling them on this one plant when I finally realized what they were, I just...

    Ghost Chili Leaves Splotching

Over-watering might be a problem; I did find a lot of water in the catch tray. As for heat, I thought chilis, especially these kind, liked the hotter weather? I'm guessing plants just need a rest after a stressful operation like transplanting as well? Here's some pictures. They're not the...
