shade Suchen's leaning tower of shade

As THP member here always says:     Flower drop probable causes: 1. Day temp too high >95F 2. Night temp too low <65F 3. Too much nitrogen fertilizer 4. Too much water 5. Low light levels (reduces fertility). 6. Very low humidity (reduces fertility) 7. Poor air circulation (air circulation...

Is this mosaic virus? Help needed?

Look under every leaf and check for small green bugs (aphids). Looks like aphid damage to me.

Composted Chicken Manure as a top dressing at plant out...

Yes. I've sprayed them in all stages over the years from 1 foot tall or so all the way until the end of the season. I don't go overboard. I try to let mother nature run it's course but if I see them as a potential threat I'll spray. Like I said, I will spray early morning or late afternoon to...

When to move up to larger cups?

Well and then the biggest most obvious reason to me: You don't have to mess with the outside elements.

    seeds Separating tiny seedlings...Shock?...photo

Why separate them so young? I usually let mine grow a little if I'm going to separate them just so they have a little more backbone when I go to mess with them. I'm like Dave though, I generally just snip the others and let the one grow. I understand your situation though.

When to move up to larger cups?

You can develop a nice root system in a dixie cup, and you can in a 5 gal bucket as well. The difference between the dixie cup, solo cup, or 5 gal bucket is how often you are having to transplant. Like I said, I just don't see the necessity in multiple transplants when you can go a little...

I never experienced burnt leaves from spraying. I always would spray late evening or early morning to avoid that. I agree I did have some growth hindered due to others growing faster. My thai's and cayenne's got left behind when the super hots took over. You really have to plan it out. I moved...

Yes this is SFG (square foot gardening). I have a limited space there to grow at 10' x 4' so I wanted to utilize as much space as possible. Some other fellow chiliheads on here have done it with success so I gave it a shot.   Spraying for aphids was and can be difficult indeed! I had a minor...

From that site you sent me on that product   "Vegetable Gardens 1 bag per 200sq. ft. Work in, then apply layer over rows after seeding."   Maybe we are talking 2 different things. I wouldn't put it directly into the hole you are planting. Chicken manure tends to be a little hot on nitrogen. I...

When to move up to larger cups?

Just seems way easier and just as effective to me to do it in a bigger growing medium and not have to transplant as often. I get it though. I'm just cautious with them and don't like tinkering with them. I find the more I tinker the worse off they are most times.

When to move up to larger cups?

You just don't really want to get root bound but they can do very well longer than you think. Not to get away from this post, but I don't get why start them in something smaller and having to keep transplanting (other than the fact you have limited space). I plant all of mine in solo cups and...

    Curling Leaf Help?

Ya I really don't see a reason to fert them once a week. I am sure some do but it's way easier to overcare for peppers rather than undercare.

Heat vs. Light - Which is more cost effective?

I grew mine in my garage last year using a cheap $20 greenhouse and about 10 100w CFL bulbs on a surge protector strip. It gets down in the 10's and 20's here in the winter often times. Granted I'm sure they didn't grow as fast as they would in a warmer climate (in the house) but if that's all...
