    preservation oven drying

depends I don't have a clue what I'm doing but I do try to dry the peppers in the oven when the batches are so big I cannot air dry them or when I get too many peppers with thick skins...so I cannot eat them all in time. My thinking was that the lowest temp is a little too high so I turn it...

You people are too advanced for me. Whats a "Bt" or "spinosads"? some kind of deadly super poison that tastes yummy and will give me extra super-strength?? yeah! I had these last year. I can tell how big they are from the size of the "droppings." The big ones leave some serious deposits...

    How to pick a pepper?

not necessarily.... If you do it right, like I mostly (try to) do, you can pick it cleanly so that the pepper is airtight. I lay them on the counter in a bowl to dry or put them in the fridge, either way I remove the stems before doing that. Easier to grab and eat that way. So its just me...

Super Cayenne II - Year #2

Thanks! Thanks, did not know the term "overwintering," I am learning a lot here already. Here is a pic of the Super Cayenne II (left) and a newbie regular Cayenne (right, also shown in the upper right of the 1st pic but cut off). You see that the year old SC II is denser and bigger but that...

Super Cayenne II - Year #2

One thing I also noticed is that after replanting they grow very very dense, some of the peppers are way in there and tough to get to. When they also get big like this we are talking 100s of peppers.

    Hello from Sunny SD

Hello everyone! Hot peppers huh? I moved to San Diego in 1998 and have been in southern CA ever since. The day I bought a house I discovered gardening, and being a single guy, I like only to plant things that make food- hence citrus and peppers. Not so lucky with the citrus but the peppers...
