AJ,

You have a few in dirt! We'll turn you into a dirt farmer yet!

I thought you were going to try setting some of the pots in soil that the grass had been removed, given your finding last year that the roots grew through the container. Although, considering the amount of pods you already tend to harvest, I don't know what you would do if you had a lot more!

Mike

the tepins at the corner in the shot with the mariachis and trinidad scorpions are still in the container. The bottoms of the containers have been cut out and they are about 3" deep in the ground...the ones actually in the ground are very late transplants...the soil in the raised area is very compacted...lots of clay...and they used a compacter on it when they put the dirt in....I dug holes about a foot deep and about 8 inches wide, put potting soil in the hole and then transplanted to that...

Great stuff. You mentioned that the super chili produces well, how is it's flavor, heat, etc.

great flavor Josh...very "cayenneish" these are from seeds from last year and the pods seem to be growing a little larger...I must be doing something different this year..

Super chilis are going great AJ! I screwed up and sold my biggest one but they still put out.

Where can I purchase tickets to a getaway on Naga Island?

Those Super Chili plants are stunning AJ. Great color contrast. How big do those pods get?

The pods will get about 1.5 inches long...once in a blue moon they may get to 2"...these are very compact plants...they won't get more than another 6" tall throughout the season...I had three of them last year and got many many pods off them...if I had to guess, I would say upwards of 2500 from the three plants..

no purchase required...you and yours are welcome here anytime Carol...give it another 2 months and the plants will be nearly 5 feet tall...they will eventually take up the whole yard on the west side of the house...it is sheltered with the fence on the south and west, house on the east and storage building on the north...heck, I will even put a couple of cots between the plants so you can look at this lovely starlit texas night sky...I will even throw in a little fan for the cots...I would highly recommend coming the end of September to the first of October when the plants will be at their full "poddage"

They all look great, AJ!!!! The Passow Piqranos look perfect. Thanks for growing my new species this year. I'll be regestering the cultivar in a month or two.
