Hey ya'll, I was wondering if it is possible to make a homemade CaMg supplement suitable for plants from just standard Calcium and Magnesium, I have a few plants starting to show some slight signs of it...? Thanx
Put some Dolomite Lime in a container and add 5% white vinegar.
Stir until it stops fizzing.
Don't cap tightly....
It makes the same stuff as Blossom Set in the store except that Dolomite Lime has Mag. in it too.
Acetate is supposed to be able to be absorbed by the plant as a spray or soil drench.
I mix 1 oz. or so to 2 gal. of water when I use it.
After I water with it I get heavy budding within a few days.
Doesn't matter how much lime or vinegar you mix together.the acid will dissolve whatever amount of the lime it can.
I have a cottage cheese container that after I use some I add more vingar.
Gotta stir it because it settles in the bottom.
It'll mold on top, form a skin but it doesn't smell or anything and will come off in one piece when you remove it.
Been using it for years.
Works great for me added to my every 3 day dose of fish and seaweed extract(1/10th or so dose).

thats probably about 100 quarts of that phony cal mag bottled fertilizer.
Advantage of Calcium Acetate is the plant gets it right now.
Doesn't have to break down or depend on soil PH to become plant usable according to what I've read.
From a foli cal bottle - calcium acetate instructions for use.
Foli cal is about $9.00 at the nursery up the street.
Lots cheeper to make your own with dolomite lime.
