Really cool!  With the difficulty in getting Aleppo, Urfa's have apparently become a lot more popular in cuisine.  This year I was given pepper seeds from a woman who brought them with her from Hamadan in Iran and she considers it her home pepper.  As it grows, it looks a lot like Urfa, but I'm not sure whether they're the same or just similar.  The plants are compact, produce pretty heavily and quickly, and ripen at a pretty average rate (mine all got a late start and are in small containers).  Nice burgundy red color as they ripen, but I haven't tasted one yet.  I expect I will turn some into pepper flakes in the traditional way they do with the Urfa in Turkey, or at least as similarly as i can.

I will likely grow Urfa the next summer season and see how the two compare and also how they compare with aleppo.  Hope you give it a go!
