beer Begin! : June TD - Kolsch

Last day of ferm dry-hopping ...

A lot of oils go on the yeast membranes and nutrient's ghost hulls ...
That's why you dry hop after your transfer off or dump yeast. That's always been my method forever. Except beers where I dry hop twice. Once during and once after primary.

"Anyways" re: hopping for now, but back to yeasties ...

Interesting ...

Today I received a package with grains and yeast not at all dissimilar to yesterday, from MoreBeer, that was packed using less ice-packs, but also in an insulated bag (albeit without foil) ...

This box came from FedEx, and was much much cooler ...

Yes, it's trip was a day shorter, but I can almost guarantee you it's the white truck versus brown truck difference ...

I've noticed it before, but was looking to substantiate my suspicions today ...

FedEx for yeast, for me ...

I really won't be buying any until Fall now, as I have assloads of yeasties on hand and it really will be impossible conditions for fresh products for the next 3-4 months ...

Very late start for me. Slept till about 8:30. Heading to pick up my truck and will hopefully get this started around noon. I ordered enough grains to do 2 batches of this one.

Cool ... I might get my brew on, too, today ...

Have to wait for the rest of the house to wake up and see what's what, but I think I should be go as well ...

Yeah, I think I'll brew this beer today in a little while ...

It's an easy batch, and I can sanitize all of the kegs in my kitchen area while it mashes/boils, and come out on top in that regard, and having knocked it out ...

I just finished working (bastards, don't ask) ... but am about to get going ...

Work was worth time-and-a-half this week, versus straight-pay next week, so I did it =)

Getting a bit frustrated. Missed my OG target again. I used the same efficiency from my last brew. I might be using the app wrong. I was shooting for 1.047 and I got 1.041.

BIAB isn't that accurate ... what efficiency do you have as your guestimate? ...
Also, you can keep a little extra light DME on hand and goose it at the end if need be (to go up), and you can add a little water (to go down) ...

In other news, I just dusted half the kitchen milling inside ... LOL ...

No Scrubs, Kolsch-like ...

MM3 in the kitchen - never again, LOL ...
