Carolina Reaper (HP22B) Community Grow

A few members including myself are growing seeds for this variety ASAP. I and a few others here on THP thought it would be fun to have a "community glog" strictly for this variety, a fun thread about the HP22B and growing this pepper for the first time.

I think we should start a community glog like this anytime there is a new pepper with alot of attention and alot of people growing it, possible world record holder or not. It would be fun, and this should be fun! That's why we all love this hobby is it not?

Therefore, this will be a drama-free, controversy-free, fun glog for all of us growers and others to enjoy. If you grow, please chime in. If you're growing this variety, please post pictures and chime in about your observations.

Again.. This thread is ment to be fun and informative, but mostly fun :)
Please. Pretty please with sugar on top.. lol. Keep it drama-free.
I, and many others would really appreciate this thread to stay that way.

Now lets get to growing!

I went with the paper towel method for this guy just like I have with all my mid-season starts. It is far from my favorite way to germinate seeds but I'm in no hurry this time of year which is why I went this route. I've had the seeds in the paper towel for about a week now on top of my HOT5 lighting closet. The seeds should be showing root tips soon, then they will be visiting some real soil :D

How's it going for everyone else?

My plants are looking nice they are starting to flower (all organic) probably could use new soil and repotting soon....the seeds are from pepper joe I started them the day they arrived. The leaf is from another plant on the next shelf and it's hard to see the little flowers starting two flowers fell off.

Glad to see one looking like the original. We'll have a bunch more podding up all over the country soon. Hopefully we can get a better picture of just how likely we are to get a true plant out of the seeds we paid for.

I decided to google Carolina Reaper images and was surprised to find a photo of Judy's 7 Pot Primo that she posted in post #23.

these photos of the reaper are RonPauls plant in an AEROGARDEN at day 63....first ever actual looking reapers...or as some might assume... PRIMOS.. =D

Nice to see a pod resemble a reaper, good job on the plant Ron.

Why dont you forward pepper joe the photos ? he was the seed murchant that sold you the seeds, your only asking the question , im sure he can try and answer it for you .

Joe responded last night, saying he has not seen a reaper plant with pods like mine, Ed did all the packaging of the seeds and there would be a margin of error.

I hope everyone growing here gets pods like the pics above.

I have 6 reaper seedlings, very very small right now. Probably won't see ripe pods until June. I planted 12
seeds, so far 50% germination.
