chile/pepper search sites

I only know of 3 chile forums that tell you information about strains of chiles (size,color,season length,prolific or not,etc...)
out of those 3, one site might tell you something that another site wont & so on or might not have any info about a certain chile.

so I was wondering if any of you here know of anyother websites that go in some depth about each chile to learn more about the strain that another website might leave off.

AHHH F!! its dropping golfball size hail right now :( I hope the plants live because I aint going out there to get them
 
We had a storm blow up out of nowhere yesterday afternoon. No hail, but a huge ammount of rain in a short time. I lost alot of flowers, but today it was about 77 and sunny. Quite a few have returned already. Whew... close one

so what are the websites you know of chilehunter and I can tell you whether I know of any different ones?

ever wonder what they compared hail stones to before golf was invented?

sorry to hear about your plant damage, broken branches are a big loss. are you able to splint them?
 
the sites I know of are thechileman - cross country - & a new one that pam linked up UK chilehead.

splint them, thats not gonna work since the branches were broke completely off, dam near every plant lost some small branches (& some with flowers/pods)also leaves were shredded on several. then a couple look like complete hell, I hope I still get some chiles from them.
I know what I'll be building for next season or if I have the time for the rest of this season ? is a wire mesh cage for the top area to prevent hail from hitting them but the mesh will still allow sun/rain through. I know it'll look kinda goofy but whatever I dont want loose the plants.
 
chilehunter, go to the UK Chilehead site and look on the left hand side of the page where the different species of peppers are listed. Click on each one, there is a description of that species. Compare those descriptions of flowers, nodes, etc. and see which species your plant most resembles.

I love and use all three, are there any others other than seed bank pics? I have surfed the net for ages looking for comprehensive info on chiles and these are the best three sites I've found. as for forums, there are several however the best two (IMHO) are THP and chillisgalore.co.uk and many posters here are members of both.

I always describe the Cross Country site as "pepper porn" the pictures and descriptions are so luscious.


I agree with you, though, about these being about the best three sites. I haven't tried chillisgalore.co.uk, but geeeez, I waste enough time here! I broke 500 posts last night, I think.

LOL! All my plants this year are from them. I could spend a lifetime growing all the different varieties. The only pepper I haven't seen there that I want to grow is the Hungarian Black. More than likely, I just overlooked it.

"pepper porn" very apt description Pam because I agree with you, their pics are excellent to look at. congrats on the 500 posts!

thanks for the links Potawie, I've seen Pettersons before, it's where I discovered the glue method for true seed saving. do you post on both? I'm a bit like Pam with regards time spent online but if they are worthwhile sites I'll 'invest' some time lurking
