Hello Everyone!
This evening after arriving home after work, I went through my routine of wateringmy starts. I was surprised when I discovered a brand-new chiltepin start that I
had planted in late December. It was part of a batch that I had pretty much givenup on, as I believe that there were a few times that the hydrocubes in that batch became too dry, and as you can see in the pictures, had taken on a white mold. I had stopped applying a sulfur spray, as I had given up and realized that I needed to just toss the old cubes with the unsprouted chiltepin seeds.
I'm glad I didn't get around to tossing them!
I have read about people who have tossed chiltepin seeds that didn't sprout onto
their compost heaps, only to have the seeds sprout months later. With that
knowledge and what I discovered this evening, I'll just keep on watering the
hydrocubes for a few months and see what else might sprout up.
Chiltepins are so incredible!
