Crab Shell Ferts

I use the Neptunes Harvest Crabshell for calcium. SImple question:

How long does it take to dissolve the calcium and become usable to the plants? Is it a waste to apply this to potting start that will only be in the pot for another 6 weeks?

its not easy to say, as it depends on a shit load of variables.

id suggest consulting the manufacturers recommendations, going with that, and buying an lb of calcium nitrate to keep on the side if you have issues down the line.

crab shell is just calcium carbonate... adding calcium nitrate onto of this, should you need it, will harm nothing in terms of fertilizer burn.

calcium nitrate is like 4 or 5 bucks a lb. much cheaper than your crab shell, so dont fret about buying two fertilizers. once you get a 'feel' for the crab shell, discade the calcium nitrate by watering it, at like 2 grams per gallon, into what ever flower beds or shrubs you have around. they will thank you for it.
