Devv-2018-Loving life in the dirt

Here we go again! ;)

This year will be a mix of in the dirt and container growing. Mostly in the dirt. I have some OW's going, 5 are cut back, 6 are pubes that still spend time outdoors as the weather allows. I have pH issues in the dirt, working on that, and hoping for some better results this season. One thing the wife and I decided is to NOT grow into the fall again. I was pulling plants the same weekend I started my seeds. I'm using 4 2 bulb T8's with 6,500K bulbs, and 1 4 bulb T5 with I believe 6,500K bulbs.

I planted extra early to beat the heat, hoping for pods before the temps go crazy. I may have to buy more lights...LOL

Pics sometime tomorrow ;)

Hey, Scottie, thought you'd like to see some
great looking JA Red Habanero plants in their
new shoes. This has been a great strain, do
you know where it originated?  I think WalkGood
had a hand in it? Anyway, these seeds from you
have produced real winners over the seasons!:

SC has weather...and heat...and humidity...and storms...gonna be trickier here for sure. I'll be lucky to get a pod!

I think if you're close enough to the coast the heat will be better than further inland. Dad retired there (Myrtle Beach) about 16 years ago and on average they have 5° cooler weather than I get here. That and the humidity may help ;)

Just for grins, here's what I plant at these dates:

Garlic 9/15
other fall crops 9/15
Onions 1/15, I start them in pots 9/15
Potatoes 2/15
Maters 3/1 if 10 day forecast is good.
Peppers from 3/15 to 4/7 depends on conditions
By late June I'm done with everything, unless I feel like watering the peppers all summer until they start to produce in mid September.  I can run them until late December most years.

Ramon (Walkgood) got these from Jamaica. I finally got one up and running. I sure hope it's pure!

A few quick not so good phone pics from yesterday, I had them inside after a few days in a 30% sunshade tent. They went out again today for a few days.

I counted 59 maters...sigh. LB wanted me to grow more so we could donate to the local food bank ;)

Edit: found stankin Aphids on a few plants :mope: :shh:

You are right, bro, you need more space!

They look great, though, foliage nice and
green/healthy. I look forward to seeing them
In a couple of months, big ol monsters!

Is that a 3 gallon pot the Reaper is in?
I just got a batch of them from htgsupply.

Man, folk need to check out some of
Shanes old grow logs. Can you say
master pepper grower?

The man is a machine. The only thing
he sucks up is massive pod harvests.
His avatar is just a hint. We used to call
him Mr. Money Shot!

Seriously, Shane is an awesome forum
member!

Thanks Paul ;)

They're #2 pots, I got them from the Greenhousemegastore.

I brought them inside again. They were getting hammered by the 25+ mph winds. And back out Monday for the final sunshade hardening.

I'm feeling like a bit of an earlier plant out this season, maybe just half

I will second that one!

Good to see you Dan!

I'm trying to beat the heat with larger plants come plant out; and I think I'm going to push the dirt day date this year.

How's that shoulder? Mines at about 80%, constant rehab...sigh. But I earned my pain via stupidity...lot of that going on around here..LOL

I'm hoping for the best year ever; but that's all in Mother natures hands. Hoping the heat stays off until late May ;)
