Did I get jipped?

Hi.
These SHOULD be Scotch Bonnets.
But are they? :) Too big?

Here are the links :)

I'd have a hard time telling from size, but mostly the shape doesn't seem right, nor the thickness of the pod stems. Here's a link to thechileman.org - some pics of scotch bonnet varieties. You'll see the stems of the scotch bonnets are much thinner, and the pod shape less blocky. Frankly, those look more like bell peppers to me, except for the leaf shape.

Edit: Went and looked at the pics again, at the leaf shape. Kind of hard to tell from the pics, but I'd say they look more like annuum leaves than chinenses. Does the plant have a strong overall Y shape? If so, it's more than likely an annuum.

Update 2012-01-20: Found the BB code and converted quoted links to embedded images.

I too see the remarkable resemblance to the C. Annuum Bell.

It was a seller on NZ's biggest auction site. I made sure I asked whether they were genuine and she is still sticking to her guns, unfortunately.

Is the auction site trademe.co.nz? I found it via a web search and none of the listings for Scotch Bonnet seeds on there have photos of actual Scotch Bonnet pods.

I had a tough time convincing another vendor that sold me a C. Annuum that it was not a Scotch Bonnet. It's not listed as a Scotch Bonnet but it is listed as a C. Chinense .

I wouldn't buy seeds on auctions for the same reason I wouldn't buy levis jeans on ebay.

At least jeans take a few seconds to realise they are fake.. Peppers take months of your time.
