First time growing - 1m+ Scotch Bonnet plants!

Hi All,
 
First time grower of chili peppers here. My housemate and I nursed 4 1 1/2 inch Scotch Bonnet plants into these mammoth 1m+ Scotch bonnet trees!
 
They appear to be unusually large and have provided us lots and lots of peppers! Is this plant size common? As what I have seen online their max size is considerably less... If I had known this I would have planted them in larger pots.

I came for a lot of bush, was disappointed when it was just some large wood.
