Flavours of the Caribbean (Mainly)

Thought it was about time I put on blog on here as requested by a good friend Gary (wind chicken).
I got to know Gary having done a seed trade over 2 years ago via fb, and have always admired his growing.
As title says most of my grow will be bonnets as I love Caribbean cuisine especially Jerk chicken, curry goat etc.

I started some rocotos quite early as I know they take forever to ripen..

Will make a proper grow list when I receive the p.dreadie select seeds kindly sent by Gary and one I'm pleased to have as a memory to Erin.

Another one already up and waiting to be potted on is Carrot Jolokia which I was kindly sent by Ben (bpiela), took ages to sprout a hook, but got one in the end.

Just waiting on a few stubborn bonnets to show hooks before finalizing what's a keeper.

Know quite a few of the british growers on here as there active members of a forum we all share

Trident
Dennish
Snagglepuss
Heefy Si Borg
Jay
and also Plantguy 76 Jason who is active here and a couple of other forums.

Looking good Sim!

I'm impressed with the plants you have growing. They all look super happy, and will reward your effort very soon ;)

Those sb caps look very similar to the JA Habs I've been growing. So much I bet I couldn't tell them apart in a bowl full.

Keep it going!

Were rocking and rolling with ya Scott

those SB Caps stood out in MikeUSMC,S grow last season and the colour alone had me hooked, i love any bonnets there so versatile and can be used in so many spicy dishes ,
glad you like the healthiness of the plants , yes im happy considering all the chinense were regerminated because of no shows and runt looking plants , i keep the polytunnel very humid by soaking all the bark chippings on the ground and that prevents any drooping ;)
i,m keeping it going boss and thanks for dropping in

Sorry to cause a bunch of confusion, everybody! I grew those Capp SBs last season, and sent Sim some seeds from those pods at the end of last year. I originally got the seeds from Jackson13 at the end of 2015, who *I think* got them from pods from Kevin (wayright). Don't hold me to that, I'm going from memory here ;)

Sim, I think I sent you and Trident seeds from the pod in the 3rd row down, all the way to the right

We are so on the same page buddy, soon as I see your pictures posted I'd of picked that prime pod for seed. Amazing pheno Mike. They sure did you proud last season man. [emoji6] [emoji106]
I'm drooling at capp pods smoked over cherry dust, press into a good mature chedder cheese then smoked again.

That's eating like a boss Mike. [emoji14] [emoji41]

Just a few pod porn pics as the season hits the exciting part.
This plant has had me excited since I received seeds end of last year.

Hainan Yellow Lantern.

The next three pics are first pods on my rocotos, and the rocoto bed down the garden in semi shade out in the elements.

Happy growing and happy 4 th to you all tomorrow my chilli friends ;)

Great looking plants, Sim! Nice to see pods on your Rocotos. My Aji Oro is getting pods, but my Brown Rocoto has yet to do so. I'm very interested to see how the Hainans turn out as well. That's not one I've heard of. Great pleated shape! Awesome job!

Cheers Adam , yeah first time growing rocotos and i figured they would like our climate so put 4 down the garden in semi shade , they seem settled and delighted to see pods , probably take to October to ripen

very impressed with the Hainan Yellow Lantern , was told it was quite rare , dont see it in many grows around the globe, great plant to grow as well, podding up nicely and loads of bud/flowers forming around the canopy...
Will grow again next season thats for sure.

Happy gardening buddy..

Big shout out to one of the most generous growers iv had the pleasure of knowing for the last 3 years ,
Gary (windchicken) many thanks for sharing a wonderful pepper that I know is real close to you.

Your Bonda Mahala loving life in a hot very humid polytunnel over here in the UK.
