Frementing Question

I have "picked a pile of peppers" and want to make a ferment mash...i saw previous posts saying to use glass or ceramic with a plastic lid...the question i have is: Can i use a large ziploc container? is that safe?
 
take a look at my setup...

the trick is once a day while fermenting you pull the rubber band a bit and squeeze the ziploc bag to push gas out the setup (thius way you take out oxygen and after a while it's full of CO2 with no more oxygen thus avoiding some mold grow.


Here's my setup that work good and pretty simple..
