Hello! I'm Hazel, a relatively recently enthused pepper...enthusiast. I took an interest in growing chili peppers in August of last year (awkward season!) after having seen Fatalii's bonchi guide. I started a few serranos and Caribbean Reds last summer and overwintered them, picked up an unidentified ornamental chili along the way and started a few new varieties (trying Malagueta, Piquin, Trinidad Smooth and Trinidad Perfume) after ordering some seeds from Pepperlover.com. I'm working with a six foot balcony so I only have one or two plants of each variety in 5 gallon pots. I have altogether too much energy to direct into these plants and do my very best to leave them alone unless they need something- the balcony opens right into my living room so it's too easy to just hang out and watch them!
I've found lurking these forums to be an invaluable resource in both information and inspiration- looking through the grow logs has made my teensy little balcony garden seem a bit silly. This seems like a great community! I'm just bursting with questions which are probably all non-concerns- it's easy to get nervous when you only have eight babies and you can check on way too often. Can't wait to absorb some wisdom!
This is my garden (assuming I can figure out image posting!). The pot in the corner you can't see is a little Japanese Maple I picked up to keep them company.
