pests Holes in my chillies; Any ID on the pest?

I don't know if this is universal or particular to Australia, but anyone who can help would be appreciated.  In just the past two weeks I have started seeing this on my ripe chillies:

Here is a closeup of the red savina:

I have had fruit flies earlier in the season, and they don't chomp a hole but rather just sting it and then maggots grow inside.  This has no soft spots, no indication of maggots inside, it just looks like something is taking a bit out of the chillies.  Any thoughts?

Caterpillars likely. Look around for them. Sometimes they hang out around the perimeter if the plants are in pots.

I have the same situation here right now in PH. However, I observed that the pest only targets the chinense variety(habs and bhuts). my baccatum and annums don't have holes.
