Hottoddy 2015 - 2016

This is my first full year growing in the Boise area. Last season turned out mediocre at best. Hopefully, I learned my lessons about the weather and soil differences and make the correct adjustments.

Here's the first 4 trays to germinate (72 plants). These are under a 4 bulb T5s. I've got another tray under the desk, and another 72+ in the germination station starting to sprout.

Closer shot of some of the early performers. While the T5s run much hotter, the plants seem to be growing out (sideways) better.

I'm also working part-time with a small, organic farm this year (5 acres). They supply produce to Boise restaurants, and even a local sauce maker. I will be in charge of the peppers. They are already growing about 5 varieties, but I hope to add another 100 plants. My hope is to buy some farming land in the future, and this will be an education!

Check out my profile for the 2015 grow list ... and feel free to give me a bump!

Nice baby goats. What breed are they?

They are Nubian goats. This is not my farm, I'm just associated with it (I help them out, they give me land). Last year, they milked them for a while and made goat cheese - but didn't really have enough goats to make it worthwhile. The moms had 17 babies this year, so they might be able to restart the goat milk/cheese operation again.

They also have a fair amount of chickens. 75 babies a few month back - they are growing fast. Here are some of the old and newer hens mixed together.

Here's some Sugar Rush Peach plants at the farm location. I can't wait to try these. The drip line with much on top seems to be working well, but plants in the ground definitely grow a bit slower this time of year.

This was taken about a week ago at my house. The back row also has tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, cabbage and cucumbers. The potted plants are really starting to take off this week. I put the sunshade up when we have multiple days in 90s and above. It's off right now.
