How r ur peppers going in Perth west oz?

Sounds like your set mate, hope you get plenty of pods. Lol your macadamia sounds like my Chinense's.

Some trees require the male + the female trees to be near each other for pollination.. perhaps that's the case for macadamias?

Cheers Jase I have just loaded up the bed with Chilli plants and Toms for now. I love making up salsas to go with my steaks seeing it is Barbie season now :-) . Best Salsas when made with homegrown Toms and Chilli. Roast some Pinenuts to go in there too, then put on a bbq grilled Ribeye and im in heaven

Still havent been able to find out about pollination for the Macadamia and also identifying male/female. I have 2 trees(1 big one small). The other thing I heard(but dont know how true) is my tree came from self sown seed which means they fell from the tree on to the ground where they sprouted and started growing will take around 10 years to bear nuts. If it is grafted it will be much quicker. Mine is about 6years old.

Cant wait for next weekend for the Ravenswood Chilli Fest, it should be a damn good day. Got my Mate Phil from Habaneros4gringos down there with a stall and just found out one of my other mates Mark Winterburn(the oz chilliman) will have a stall there too with his sauces. Both have damn good sauces. Then a few people from my Chilli group also have stalls down there. Daytan with his Jerky has been on fire ever since he started a little while ago. I piss myself laughing everytime I hear people mention his jerky. It's called Pepperdicks Chilli Jerky.

Hopefully you can make it down there Mate the Chilli community are a fantastic bunch of people and always a good laugh to be had

Tomatoes were my original obsession, I still grow them + a few herbs and greens. I'm at the Margaret River Gourmet Escape atm and have had some amazing food, mostly meat but there was a salad with proper tasty heirloom toms and it was amazing.

I hope your macadamia goes through early puberty for you mate cos that's a long wait lol

I'll be at chilli fest but can't get there until 5:30 due to work, I should have taken it off. I'm actually growing red habs that I bought a pack of from Gringos at Fremantle chilli fest. Was an awesome hab so took out plenty of seeds. Will be good to talk to the sauce makers because that my own goal for growing chillies, I want to start a boutique sauce compony and I have unique ideas that no one else does. Most of the varieties im growing is simply to test how they taste and produce enough to make the best sauces. So will be great to talk to the pros for advice. My biggest issue is growing enough produce I only have space for 33 plants atm which should in theory get my 20-40kgs in a season but not if the frigen flowers all drop off!

Yep love the Toms. Been growing them for quite a few years. I used to be in the Diggers Club and some of the heirloom Toms I got from there kicked ass in flavour.
I make sure I grow a few Black Russians every year and love my Cherry toms. This season I have a bit of a black theme going on with Black Cherry and Black Gourmet Truss Toms.

Good luck with your sauces Mate and I know what you mean about space and having a good crop. Someone I know is willing to share some of his acreage up in roleystone. The property is part of an old orchards farm.
Will have to see on that one as lots of people dont carry the offer through. Candice from Wildfire Chilli used to get a farmer to grow for her because of the problems of backyard growing.
I;ll make sure I grab some seeds of my Yellow Jamaican Scotch Bonnet Long to give to you. Hab heat with lots of flavour. A real true taste of the Carribeans :-)

Diggers is where I used to get my seeds from too, they have great varieties there. If you ever head to Melbourne it's worth going to the diggers club gardens in Mornington peninsula.

I reckon if I had a couple of acres I would be self sufficient and work for myself.

That SB long sounds great will definitely grow it next season!

Hey guys,

So I'm looking into buying some fertz for my seedlings to boost some growth once their in the ground.

Is there anything decent you can buy from Bunnings? or will I need to go to a specialised shop or buy online?

I was wondering myself wether Australia has much different fert ratios or if it was just what was available at bunnings.

After reading the kind of ferts that people were using on here and then checking at bunnings the other day there was nothing even close to the ones that were equal like 10:10:10 or had higher P or K values. Mostly just different variants of having N:P of about 4.5:1

Could have easily missed them though :)

Mate I used Thrive 'veggie and herb' comes in a white bottle and only like $10. It has fish, seaweed and trace elements already in it so for small plants has it all. N8P1.8K5.5 so a good balance of nutes. Just dilute one cap to 9L so lasts a while I still haven't finished mine yet. My plants have grown like weeds so it works well. I also planted into Baileys mix with a bit of added dolomite, a hanful of rooster booster and some perlite and very happy with this mix so far.

Mite as well update on my own grow.. my plants are getting huge! Heaps of growth happening with buds already forming on this years new plants.

Got some pods happening on a few of my OW's which is awesome. Yellow 7pot, yellow Tabasco, baby morich, yellow scotch bonnet(anuum), red mushroom all got fruit happening. Will figure out how to post pics next month I think..

Coming along nicely There Mate. Mine had a bit of a hard time in the greenhouse over the winter break.
was up Cervantes for 3 weeks and unfortunately something happened with the auto water and some Chilli got watered really well and some not so well.
Taken a bit to recover and some became sacrifices to the Chilli gods but they are now doing well.

Happy Chilli Growing

Micca

Thanks for that Micca, yeah they didn't like the rain recently. but this warm humid weather is giving them the boost they need.

I feel like I need to take pics every day, that's how fast some of my plants are growing at the moment.
