Hi Justin,

Just thought I better drop in and say that my C. Chinense seeds you sent me have so far yielded a 100% germination rate. Very happy. The only exception is the C. pubescense (Manzanos) none have germinated not sure why they are in with the chinense's so who knows?? Not giving up on them though I'm sure they will pop up.

Cheers, Jason

Were they Habanero Manzano?  Those are a chinense habanero.  Not sure why it got that name, don't remember the story behind it, but should be a nice orange habanero.  I did have some manzano seeds I got from a friend, not sure if I sent those along, but pretty obvious with the big black seeds if so.  Glad to hear all was good on most hopefully the others have come along.
Too much to do not enough time to glog.  A few recent ones though.

Definitely are Manzano, yellow and orange mix seeds were black. Still got plenty more, besides my second batch of seeds I put down last week are already popping so super happy man thanks!

Those JPGS X Primo look scary.. awesome pics

Justin,

The size of your pods always amaze me. Take a normal sized pod and add another 30-50% and you got Justin's pods. I took a pic last year of the Jonahs yellow brain Justin sent me vs my own. Everything was the same except his was more than 50% bigger.

The Chocolate Bhutlah DM, not familiar with this one, what does the DM stand for?

Excellent poddage!

Thanks for the good words Garth, appreciate it, I still think the last few summers here in IL have been a good combo of heat / humidity that has helped.  For the most part we do get some breaks, might be brutal hot for 7 or 10 days but usually get a little cool down to give them a break that you don't get in TX.  Just one thought, I am pretty sure its nothing I am doing special.

DM stands for Dave Minor, he was putting out some strain of bhutah last year, not sure the story on it, if he created it or selected it from something or what.  Some claim its just a big ass chocolate bhut, I suppose I need to sample one in some way, I think I am only going to get about 10 pods or so if I am lucky.  A lot of my plants aren't coughing up a lot of pods this year.  My PL Choco bhut just ripened one and has about 15 babies on it I hope have time to ripen.  Since its going to be 90 here all week, I am hopeful for a late frost again.  Damn warm here for late Sept.

But this is my favorite.  Sorry don't mean to offend any of my friends that are Texans, but not "everything" is bigger in Texas.  Particularly large orange thais.

Awesome pods Justin
I owe  you a bonnet update my friend and have every intention of doing so when I get caught up.  I did try the Nagabon x Yellow Primo last week and it took me by surpise, as smooth as they are I wasn't expecting much, but it had some nice kick and a pretty good little pepper.  Its shape makes them nice and easy to work with also.   The damn nagbon don't know when to stop though, its a freak of nature, pod after pod.  I have picked over 200 I am certain and its putting on more, and the plant is not even 3 feet tall.

Great pods!
Orange thai , favourite on taste or growth?
I have just started a couple and would like to know what to look forward to.

Those kraken type peppers look just like some Trinidad scorpions that I bought from AlabamaJack years ago. I love that shape and color. Those things are gorgeous.

OK, yeah those Manzanos I got from someone.  I must have passed on, I read somewhere they needed a superlong season so didn't bother.  I tried 3 other pubescens this year, not sure if I will see a ripe pod.  None of them set a single pod until probably a month ago, so will have to wait and see.

Awesome stuff man!

Are you planning on putting a lot of isolated seeds up for sale on the site this year?
Lot, well no.  I do plant to have more isolated seeds, but not a lot.  I ran into many challenges with that, the main one being my plants grew to fast for the netting I had.  I did bag some branches and will have some to offer, but not like I had planned.  This might be a multi year project to get something in place to allow me to isolate better.  Other part of the problem here was the heat/humidity / non stop rain at times.  Leaving the plants covered made them stay wet for too long and was promoting fungus / disease growth.   For the most part the layout of the garden this year should help yield interesting crosses for the ones that do happen.  I planted things I would have liked to see cross near each other.  I hope to maintain close to my previous years rates of near 80% true on my own seeds grows.  I don't have numbers yet, but thinking its probably fairly close to that again, maybe a touch lower.   Some of the crosses I have had from my own seeds this year have been incredible.  One is a bahamian goat x unknow superhot - giving me some giant bahamian goat like pods that ripen red and are superhot.   Another is the SRTSL x possibly kraken that is putting out some wicked big red pods.  So end story though is not as many isolated seeds as I hoped but will be a few more, will try to update in mid to late october once I get everything saved.

Few pods from this week.

Madballz Fat - might be a cross, might be instablity, but these got a lot fatter than my other madballz, but they might be the best tasting chocolate chinense ever.  Probably not superhot but above a chocolate hab.

Sorry to hear about the problems isolating. No worries though, I'll be putting in an order sometime soon anyway. Look forward to the update in October.
