Kraig and Manda's Mid-Late Season grow

Me and the wife got into the game a little late, but seeing as how we are in Florida, the plants will get lamp light the 2 weeks (lol) it gets cold. We have a few young plants that are starting to produce, and a bunch of seeds (THANK YOU SO MUCH to Durham Bull) we are trying to germinate. The down side about where we are is the ground is sand. Not a sand/soil mix, just straight sand. Most of our plants are currently in 3-5 gallon buckets and doing well!

Firstly, our container plants.....

Jalapenos!

This is our germination station. Using Jiffy pucks and papertowel in a cup method, and one of the wife's cilantro sprouts. We are working on a fairly wide variety of pepper. Again, thanks a ton to Durham Bull who provided us with nearly all of the seeds for this project. Currently germinating are:

Red Savina
Jalapeno
Butch T
Morouga Scorp
Yellow Brain Strain
Red Brain Strain
Yellow 7 Pot
& Pot
Bhut Jolokia
Datil

Using 6500K CFL's rated at 1.9K lumens each. We will be adding another 4 6500K bulbs, and 3-4 2700K bulbs once the plants are nice and bushy.

For you experienced growers out there, see any glaring issues? Comments/concerns?

Not a whole lot of progress over the last few days. Ive had seeds in the jiffy pucks for the last 7 days. Nothing, nada, zilch. I will give it another 2 weeks before I get sad and ask the silly question of is it possible to take the seed out of the pucks and try a different medium.

Wet paper towel in a cup method however.........see below.

Wheee! T Scorp germ'd! Only took 2 days. My next question for the pro growers....how long should I wait before putting it in seed starting mix? I'm hoping over the week I will get a few more tap roots. So excited to see one germinate!

**edit** also snagged a pair of 2700K cfl bulbs. Debating on whether or not to use them.

31 July 2012

All 3 T scorpion seeds germinated. All have been moved to solo cups. When I got home from work today I had a huge surprise. Had absolutely no luck with the peat pucks until today. A yellow BS, datil, moruga scorp, and butch t are all poking up through the peat. Will post pics after dinner.

Ok, sorry for the lack of updates, been really busy. Most all of the seeds germinated and now live in solo cups with 4 6500K CFL's putting out 1900 lumens each! Also making a grow box lol.....will post pics when that is done.
