Books. Read them...lots of them. I'm on my 6th book right now.
There is a free online book available which you can find here:

It will probably tell you more about brewing beer than you will need to know - and will certainly get you making better beer than you otherwise would if you followed the instructions on the kit brew at the supermarket. Alternatively - go to a home brew store and ask questions (take care though, as some homebrew staff no nothing about brewing, or even worse they can give bad advice).

After you've done that, sign up at Home Brew Talk forums and read read read.

One of the best home brewing forums on the net. It's Australian but the information is the same and there is a great knowlegde base.....Their is even a chilli section......

Actualy just bottled another 5 gallons of beer....must take a picture of all the bottles sitting in the basement waiting to be drunken.
