Lemon drop root system

So i started 2 lemon drops in an aerogarden along with 5 other plants and my TS and Bhut took over the whole area pretty quick so i transplanted them into some solo cups.

I used patrick's method of 2 solo cups and bottom watered them. This is the bigger plant that I planted out today in a east facing garden. Regular soil nothing special. Just thought I would experiment a little.

Can you say root bound?!

Looks like the roots fused together. I'd loosen it real good or cut part of it.

Yes, loosening or cutting the roots will help the plant to quickly grow plenty of new roots to the surrounding soil. If you dont loosen the rootbounded plant's roots before you put the plant in to a bigger container, the roots will just stay where they are now or only grow very few new roots to the surrounding area.
