Mattys first ever Glog "Into the fire" 2019 season

Hello everyone and thanks for looking at my "Into the Fire" Glog!!

So I started my gardening hobby in my early 20's about 16 years ago now, and though I have played around with many types of flowers/vegis  tomato's is what most of my energy was put into. I loved alll the different colors and types that could be grown which really reminds me of all the exciting Chilli variety's that exist today. A couple seasons ago while looking for some info on a particular type of sweet pepper I stumbled onto a few videos of some people eating super hots (Ghost,Reapers ect..).  After looking into it a little more I figured this would be a very interesting thing to grow even just as a novelty since really no one in my area grows much if anything at all.

Last Winter I went and bought some seeds from Ebay..one was a mixed bag Ghost/Reaper/Scorpion...another was the Peter Pepper and the third was some type of Thai i believe. Only the Thai ended up growing true to type and the other 2 was a Cayenne and Ornamental. I was pretty disappointed when they did finally start putting out pods. It was around that time I started looking for a group or forum dedicated to Chillis, and luck would have it I found THP and all of you fantastic peoples.

Anyways with the boring back story outta the way I really planned ahead for this years grow....I built a 6'Hx6'Lx2'D grow box (not exact mesurments) which has 3 shelves and the middle one able to come out if I wnated to grow larger plants from the bottom tier. I went overkill on seed types making 3 decent size buys, 2 of which were 30+ from Garth at TexasHotPeppers and a smaller one from a fella in Arz.

I do not plan to grow all of these as my wife would kill me, but 20 or so might not be so bad.

So would like to see some favorites and suggestions from the fine people here at THP so I can kinda get it down to a much much smaller grow list. Will also get some pics up shortly here of my grow box which still has one more shelf I need to wire up just waiting on a few more strip lights to arrive in the mail, but will still give an idea of what it will all look like when its done.

In final: This is a new hobby for me within the hobby I already enjoy...I am going to try some new things (new for me) and even the much earlier starts then normal will be interesting to see how it all comes out at the end.  I look forward to the input from the community and keeping this glog updated as much as I can.

Here is too success in 2019!!

If it does not show up today/tomorrow I will resend a new one, it should of shown up by now so its either being held or on it's way back to me. So if nothing by tomorrow afternoon lemme know Bry and I will send out another for ya, before it gets too late to put anything into grow.

Couple shots of some stuff from the middle shelf for y'all.

Weather is looking abit more promising this week, which I should be able to get out and dig out the frame of the hoop house at least. It really cannot come soon enough, watering every 2-3 days now which is taking 3+ hours at least by the time I take it all out and put it away after the bottom feed, which takes time in it's self.

Here is my first weather report of the week.....just gives me something to bitch aboot really.

My wife told me last night, if I plan on starting early each year I will need to invest in a dehumidifier before the start of next season. Some days has that tropical jungle feel to the air when you walk fromt he outside, a huge difference from the normal dryness we have all the time.

Last season I had black mold growing on the windows and in some places on the walls in the what's now the grow room, which is a 24x8' room off the shop. This year I made sure to keep things a bit drier and left the door open to the shop. NPF this season. The shop is insulated as is the grow room, so all went well.

Plants look great Matty, and I been there on the time spent watering...

I need a dehumidifier as well. And I feel your pain on the watering for hours. I'm taking a break right now lol.

Again the watering times are basically my own fault, the plants are getting too large and they are still stuck in smaller containers, which is cause I didn't have the balls to get rid of a bunch of plants 5-6 weeks ago now. I just happend to lift a couple plants up last night to check on them and ended up doing the entire top shelf, which was not in the plans last night. I just dropped them in some trays overnight and put them away just abit ago, I just couldn't get into it last night at all.

That is kinda one thing I am concerned aboot, the humidity has been so high even the walls are sweating at times. Have had to open up the windows and crank the heat on, which adds more cost to the already higher electric bill since Jan.

Weather update....you know, just incase you all cared or anything aboot my weather.

As much as you can pretty much never count on a 14 day forecast, I do find it rather interesting to follow, as It literally changes from day to day. What we need is a good week of +7 to +10 temps to really do damage on the rest of the snow, though the slower melt has been better to ward off any flooding issues, but that doesn't apply to me so bring on the warmth dammit!!

Ha!

Actually I started doing it on purpose in Jan/Dec and was waiting to see if anyone caught on to it....finally in late Feb I brought it up to see if anyone had actually noticed or not.

Some of the lads have been keeping it going or posting in their own local accents from time to time. In my head it has the 'about' sound when I say it but I know it comes out 'aboot' to others, I would hear it alot when I used to game it up online.

Yeah, that weather forecast kinda sucks for ya, eh. Hopefully the wind will help knock down your snow and mud,eh[emoji16].
Nothing fun in the mail, yet. Maybe today, eh.

Still better then last year but just can't get anything of the decent temps to hold on for more then a day or 2, which is extremely disappointing. Yesterdays 7 day isn't so bad if it holds on alittle longer, the rain will help as well as dreary and crappy as it is at this time of year.

Okies well I will try and get another package together tonight or tomorrow for ya Bryan, kinda a tad irritated with my luck and the mail the past few months, this one the latest fluff up of course.
