Megamoo's 2012/2013 Glog

I'm in a new house with much more space, better sheltered areas for plants and hopefully less disease in the environment. Unless I win the lottery and buy myself a mansion I'm good to stay here for a long time. The landlord knows about and is cool with the fluorescent light grow setups in the garage, and is happy for me to transform the outside into a chilli jungle. All signs point to a good season ahead.

Winter has just begun, and I've got the germinating and growing on stations setup. Chilli seeds are in the post flying to my door.

This is the current seed list I have to choose from, including varieties ordered but yet to arrive.

Many of these are just one or two seeds leftover from old stock and I won't be planting everything. A lot of the ornamentals will be getting just one plant. I'm might still get some more 7pots and superhot varieties.

The garden beds need a little work, and retic needs to be sorted but I've got a few months to do that. I'll post pictures when I have them.

Dude, that took me WAY back! Hey, hey hey! ;)

Oh, and great looking pods! :)
Thanks :)

Yeah, dern ants and their aphids. Plants are looking good anyway mate!

Its only an isolated plant in the corner of the garden so I'm hoping its just a warning shot across the bow.
Yeah they do. Good weather and plenty of it ahead... its looking like a big harvest.

I use the Seasol stuff as a foliar too.... What do you mean when you say "wash the salt out"? How!?
i think they are talking about fresh seaweed.

Yeah that's when you gather it fresh off the shore to make your own seaweed tea. The tv thing I saw said you have to wash all the sea salt out. To make it you can either put it in a big bucket filled with water and let it steep, or you can bury it in a hole, and dig it up much later.

It makes sense if you live close to a coast, like most Australians!, with lots of seaweed free for the taking. Some places you're not allowed to take it though. I don't think you have to aerate it either.

Did anyone have an ID on the bug ? I know its a bad picture.

Does the bug have a long proboscis?

See my post at http://thehotpepper...._40#entry753175 for some bug references.

The Good Bug? Bad Bug? reference features a pest on the cover that closely resembles it - Nezara viridula otherwise known as green vegetable bug.

Ate this fella for dinner. I think my tolerance is down after two days of no chilli because it really burnt!

I was going to save the seeds but despite being a good sized pod it only had a few seeds.

I always thought only a few seeds meant the pod wasn't fully mature? Perhaps this is not a seedy variety.

edit: The colour in the first photo is off, it wasn't yellow, it was very pale peachy.

Thanks :)

That looks like a Stink Bug... not sure what it does to the plants, but it stinks :)

Yep, bad bug. Squash that shit!!!

Oh don't worry I will execute that bastard on sight!

I've been getting quite a few pods with small holes in them, and only a few with larger bore holes. Not sure if its the same bug at different ages but its pissing me off. Only actually found one pepper maggot so far. Damn things are having a field day and they're getting away with it. Luckily the sun is ripening everything really fast so I get a chance to collect untouched mature pods.

Time for some gratuitous POD PORN :D

Nice pods mega... very nice indeed. You must still be pinching yourself that this isn't some glorious dream when you compare it with your 2011-2012 season. Awesome turnaround bro!

Great pod porn Moo!

I was going to make a smart assed comment and identify the bug as "Bob" or something like that, but it looks like the conversation drifted past before I got a chance to.

OMG, look at the pooling oil in those! NICE!
Yep. Those look like they might hurt! Awesome pods! Let us know how the flavor hits you.
Moo dem are some dam nice pod porn pictures and the ones on da odda page too :)

I live for pooling hot oil :D ... great post Doc!

Thanks for all the positive comments.

I am fully stoked its all going good. Haven't had any of the Jonahs because I'm in over production mode. Harvesting so many each day I'm starting to freeze pods. Will have to start running dehydrating trays soon. This is not a situation I've encountered before ;) Happy times :D
And as good as it is right now, they are still not producing to full potential because of mites and bad garden layout, plus a lazy attitude to fertilising :P Better than not at all though!

Ok if you liked the pod porn, and then the hard core pod porn perhaps you will take the next logical step -

EXTREME FETISH POD PORN

Yes that's right, time for the stuff that a few people are into and most say is just plain gross and they don't want to see... but if you see it you can't look away. ;)

What an awesomely large Jamaica Scotch Bonnet. Not a flaw to be seen... it must be a perfect pod!
podsurgery019_zps2ae2404d.jpg

Wait what's this small hole here. Too tight a squeeze to get anything in there but better bust it open and get an eyeful.

podsurgery032_zpsc27d199e.jpg

podsurgery036_zps9687e3d6.jpg

Except for that giant knife that keeps slicing through everything.

Need a bump because like gross out fetish porn, when you've had enough there is more and more and more..
