more learning for the new year

So this year instead of mixing soil in seed trays, I decided to use these little jiffy pellets, they look simple enough, and I hear more good then bad about them.

At 11 days in I have a 50% sprout rate and move all healthy sprouts to the window.

The pods inside the mini-greenhouse look like they're finally drying out, so I lazily put a few splashes of water in the greenhouse, put the lid on and ignore

at 17 days I have a bunch of jiffy pods soaking wet and covered in white mold, LOL

The removed sprouts are doing well though:lol:
  • Next time I see jiffy pods starting to dry out after a couple of weeks, I will remove all pods from the mini-greenhouse, water them by letting them soak in a shallow bath (with peroxide added)
  • I will clean out the empty greenhouse, and spritz with peroxide, let air dry
  • Then place all freshly watered pods back inside.....hopefully this will prevent molding
