morro's garden

Hi all,
This is my second year growing peppers and also my second glog here.
I have overwintered 10 plants and have been battling aphids for 4 months. I am winning, but because of the neem oil applications the new growth and flowers got burned. They are still alive though...
The OW list, not 100% sure, have to check the labels:
Scotch Bonnet Red
Peach Bhut Jolokia
Red Bhut Jolokia
Fatalii
7pot Brain Strain Yellow (it's orange actually)
Douglah Brown 7 pod
Moruga Scorpion
Carolina Reaper
Habanero orange
Habanero Carribean Red

Received a ton of seeds (see below) from az1000 so this year will be an experiment of pubescens grow in a not so friendly environment.

az1000, thanks again for the seeds, without them this grow log would have been too short :)

Looking good! It's going to take several hours a day to harvest all of those pods starting in a month or so.
The forecast for the next 10 days is 32-35 C, I'm afraid a lot of flowers will drop

Impressive grow , is it all for personal use , or do you have other plans for them.
Personal use, this is again "grow too many peppers madness" :)

That is some hot weather for sure. At least you have the Pubes under shade cloth. That will help a lot in the really hot weather. I had some Pubes drop a few flowers last week, when it was 90-95 degrees every day for 5 days straight. The plants continued to thrive in the heat, and bounced back well this week, with a lot of new baby pods forming.

We had 30 C for a week and I didn't see flower dropping but a lot of fruit setting, maybe the shade cloth and the bed height (45-50 cm) are helping, it's a wait and see, pubes are new for me :)

Holy cow! Now that's a grow! Everything is huge and healthy. You sure put in a lot of work. And your tomatoes look spectacular! Pubescens galore! Very nice!

Some updates after 6 weeks... Not spending very much time in the garden since I started brewing my own beer :) Lots of weeds but the peppers they are growing well. The time spent in the garden is mostly harvesting.

The big one is Aji Amarillo, nearly my height

Now the rocoto beds which have overgrown and covered the access... I must make some courage to see what they hide. I only tasted the ones accessible in the pic below (some big Santa Natalia pods) and Manzano orange and costarican yellow which are in pots.

Beautiful garden! Glad to hear you started brewing. I've been brewing for years, it is a very fun, and rewarding hobby.

Thanks, your rocoto are awesome :) I think the trigger for starting brewing is somewhere here on the THP forum. I saw a cold room for maintaining fermenting temperature (maybe lager?) and in that moment I realized I want to make my own beer too :) Started from extract kits but now I did my first 2 batches all grain. They are still fermenting but I imagine I will like them. And off course I planted 5 hop plants also :)

Today I managed to clear the way into the jungle. Most of them have no fruit or still not ripen yet. I think because of the hot summer we had or maybe low light because of overcrowding? But found this plant, that was supposed to be an Orange manzano (any idea what it is? costarican red maybe?) that is doing so great so I had to post these pics :) I'm almost sure that I didn't mix the plants/labels so I blame az1000 for mixing up the seeds :)) or maybe it's a cross. Anyway, I'm very glad how it turned, saving many seeds of it for next year, hope it will do the same.

Was hoping for more big ones like Santa natalia or the riesen gelbs to try that rocoto relleno but I will adapt the recipe to these ones (which seem to be medium size imo)
