hey everyone!

heres what ive got growing. all pictures taken today.

peruvian white habanero

pequin ( C. annuum var aviculare ) 3 gal pot

bhut jolokia

jamaican hot chocolate habanero

L aji amarillo R aji chinchi amarillo

rocoto orange

more rocoto orange not big enough to be repotted yet

my initial plan was to test multiple varieties in nursery pots vs root pruning pots.
all pots in regular containers were stepped from 4" pots to 1 gal nursery pots to 5 gal nursery pots where the ones in smart pots went from 4" pots to 1 gal rootmaker pots to 5 gal smart pots.

when repotting into their final containers i found out what i got from my local nursery werent actually 5 gal pots, but #5 pots. which is only 3.8 gals i think, so my experiment isnt going to be valid

soil mix consists of promix ammended with worm castings, bone meal, rock phosphate, oyster shells, greensand, and leaf mold compost

can anyone confirm what im calling "peruvian white habanero" is actually what it is?
when i first got the seeds i googled white habanero and what showed was peruvian white hab and it looked like the pods i had, but now im seeing stuff like yucatan white and white bullet.

Nice plants, should be interesting to find out if the root training has any visible effect... if that factor can be isolated...

nice plants! some companies call it peruvian white hab.one company calls it the white bullet hab. they are hot little peppers. good production.

front from left are 3 aji santa cruz and 1 aji habanero. behind are 3 bell pepper, 1 ancho, 1 cubanelle, and 5 zavory

Raised bed looks great, nice job. I'm really jealous of the white habaneros, I had no luck with them at all this year. Either wouldn't germinate or would germinate into a sickly looking plant that quickly died. Out of about 60 varieties it was the only failure. I guess I got bad seeds. I was really looking forward to them. Oh well, in the words of Cubs fans everywhere...maybe next year.

What part of the state are you in, and how have your plants been holdin up to the insane weather we have been getting this month?

I had the same problem with mine! I figured it was the growing conditions (I had 'em draped in Saran wrap to keep the aphids away, but the other seedlings didn't seem to mind!) I did notice that even when they first sprouted, the seedlings were a LOT smaller than my other peppers. Did yours look the same way?

I also got 'em on eBay, so that could be part of the problem.

Gonna try trading for maybe some White Bullet, or some Giant White Hab if I can find it - perhaps I will have better luck with that!

Yeah they were pretty small, the cotyledons were kind of pointy and sickly looking from the beginning, the few that germinated popped up to about a half an inch, stayed that size for about a week and then died. One packet of seeds came from a reputable vendor and the other from a member here, don't remember which for either.

they've been holding up great so far laserguy! we havent been getting any rain down here in houston (except for the other day), so ive been having to go out there every few days and water everything.

crazy thing is is i got my seeds over the fall (through a trade on gardenweb)and the guy sent me full pods they sat around and never got put in my p.o. box for over a week before i got them and i ended up with moldy fruit. i washed them off with a 10% bleach solution and got great germination on my zavory and white habanero seeds. im very happy with the results ive got from each.

just ate a few zavory and aji habanero right off the plant tonight very happy! first time having both

took some new photos yesterday and was comparing them to the last time i photographed them.

hot chocolate habanero - 2 of them have been dropping the leaves in the middle of the plant. not from shading i dont think. can anyone help me understand why they are falling off? there has been lots of wind lately, could that be why? there are new leaves taking their place, though. they just look wierd

Looking Good Souf. Your doing a great job. Plants look great and nice shot of the cubanelle and aji habanero. The Frog on the leaf is pretty cool too. Is this your first year growing?

i grew a couple jalapenos and a big jim a few years ago. didnt do too bad w/ the jalapenos, but the squirrels would always eat my big jims! i never go to eat one!! so ive been kinda obsessed with them ever since. i hope im not getting my hopes up.
last year was mostly sweet peppers and i didnt do too bad w/ them either. i got a bunch of seeds from smokemaster over the fall and i went a little crazy with planting them when i got them
this is my first time growing this many peppers and varieties. i had never heard of many of these, and have never tried any before either. im very happy with what ive tried so far
