PI 281429 (C.chinense)

In the end of October a friend of mine gave me a seedling of PI 281429 variety saying: 'My indoor conditions are not good for this child and I'm afraid it won't be overwintered fine'. 'OK, I'll take care about it', I said without any enthusiasm.

19 days later the seedling looked so:

32 days later...

42 days later...

53 days later first flower buds appeared. '5 flower buds per node. Nothing unusual for C.chinense varieties', I thought.

6 days ago I noticed there were 8 buds!

But now you can see there are 9(!) flower buds at the first node:

It's not so crowded

at higher nodes :D

To be continued...

P.S. The plant is growing under HPS 250 Watt lamp indoors in 2 l container

That's quite incredible! This is obviously a heavy cropping variety (better than any I have seen so far). Will love to see how these turn out.

9 buds keep growing:

A node with 6 buds one level higher:

Going by PI 281429 GRIN listing this one is suffering from a bit of an identity crisis. The observations page lists the colour when ripe as red yet there's a photo of red, yellow (maybe intermediary) and brown pods.
Maybe you'right and my plant doesn't belong to PI 281429 variety. But it doesn't mean that 9 flower buds at a first node is an ordinary case, does it?

This is one heck of a thread ... pepper porn for sure ! love the pictures, excellent job... just got some gift seeds with an order from Judy that had this Pi 281429... had no info on it ( Google it ) and came across this thread, Iam for sure growing it. The cream peachy color is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to put this thread together and thanks for the seeds Judy !

Great photos, that thing is doing very well indeed, I hope all the buds produce fruit and don't fall off. Would be interesting to see how the plant copes with this many pods per node.

Excellent photography there Varg
I don't think I have seen 9 nodes before, definately a Chinense for sure.
Will be looking forward to seeing some ripening fruit of this one.
