Possible a few silly questions from someone new to growing chillis.

Well done. Have you shown them to the jokester who gave you the seeds? I might add you can hasten peppers ripening by late season pruning. Removing upper leaves and new flowers or pods that wont have time to finish; this allows the plant to direct all of its assimilates to the mature fruit.
 
cheers for that advice, one to remember for next year as that plant has a ton of pods that were never going to open. Now jsut to hope i can winter it.
 
 
Was at my local Market Basket this morning an they had Shishito peppers.....

Along with LOTSA Jalapeno & something called Long Hot Pepper.....

And interestingly next to the Shishito peppers were...........

those long hot peppers look like the longhorn peppers i`ve grown the last couple of years when picked green. they ripen to red but it takes quite a while to go red. these longhorns were picked green.  there are other kinds of peppers that look like that also, they may or may not be longhorns.
