Potawie's summer of 09 porn

The weather is finally getting nice outside in Potawie land so I have almost everything out of the greenhouse, and I'm slowly starting to plant tomatos. This year I've been quite discipline, for a change, in what I grow and have focused a lot of my efforts on tomatos and mild to medium peppers. I really miss growing all the C. chinense varieties but I still have a trunk full of dried pods/powders and half a freezer full of frozen pods from the last few years. That and the fact that I just can't eat many super-hotties and I have an easier time selling tamer peppers. Now that I look at my list, I guess I do have 13 varieties of chinense but 2 are mild types and most others were over-wintered.
Anyways, here's some pics I took this weekend(Mid June)

Beautiful plants! I have to agree with the milder varieties, they do sell better, even the sauces... Anyway I am very intrigued with bonsai plants. Did you just trim the plant and roots and confine the space to keep it so nice and small?

Thanks

Looking good!. Is that a banana tree, first pic. in the back

Yes, I believe its a Ensete glaucum (or snow banana) and the 2 of them desperately need bigger pots

Yes, that and I let an early crop produce, which seems to have stunted any major growth. I didn't really intend for it to become a bonsai but I just go with the flow:)

Man POTAWIE land looks like a great place to grow things. I think I would love to live around there, looks wild and unsettled and that's for me!

How long is your outdoor growing period up there POTAWIE?

I'm really not sure how many pepper plants I'm growing this year, but I'd guess at about a hundred. Less than most years anyways.

My outdoor growing period is usually from about now, mid June until about late September but I can stretch the season a bit with my greenhouse.

Here's a few more pics

Very nice Potawie, I really like the Piment D'espelette and Pimento L. I've heard they are really tasty. Probably from you! How big is that beige pot in the 1st pic? It looks huge. I'll bet it would make a great Naga pot.

I'm not quite sure of the pot size I'll have to check, and it is a naga growing in it, a Bigbang naga. Here's another peak

Reisentomate is the name given so thats what I use, but I guess it probably should be riesentomate.

Joe, I originally heard about these in one of the many gardening/growing magazines I read, and purchased seeds. I had/have a few problems with the place of seed purchase, so I won't reveal:( Hopefully there will be more sources for next season, including me

Cool, keep me in mind!

Nice plants. Truely amazing how much space people have here to grow plants on. Your yard is probably bigger than most of the parks in my area :(
