seeds Question on seeds

How true is it that if seeds float they are not viable to grow? I have about ten seeds and tried checking them by seeing if they float or sink, and all floated but one, and it barely sank.

I'm pretty sure the float test is meant for fresh seeds to see if the seed has anything in it or is just a shell.
I don't know is soaking the dry seeds for a while will do the same thing.

The test goes on the basis that empty shells are full of air and will float but good ones are heavy and sink.

Float test is a good way to get the junk out of a larger batch of seeds.Dry pods floats at first so it can be skimmed off.
