That rocoto is almost a baseball!
Now as to the festival pods, and the last harvest pods -are the long whites Devil's Tongue Whites? I had one white make it -a late starting seed that I had infact
given up on-and then 2 mos after sowing ,one pops up.Nice clean tasting pods.
And ...hell yes its worth it to keep the hoop house goin as long as possible!

A couple pics from the other day's hoophouse harvesting. This is how we roll in Pennsy-tucky!

Here are the pickins' from one bed:

Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy has different plans for this season. I harvested everything with ANY sign of color on it. I'm going to chance it and leave the hoophouses up but it could be the end of the season for good.

Sucks but it has to end sometime. I would have loved to be able to get a hoophouse up today, but I have too many different beds to make it work so I guess I am pulling plants for overwintering today. 48f and rainy right now with 32 expected tonight. Damn...

It seems like it was a great season Dan and here is to next year!! :drunk:

Nice bit of hoophouse magic, Dan! Now that the season here is
just about wound down, I can have some time to visit grow logs
just in time to see them come to an end! Good luck in 2013!

All be damned... yellow Brains in late November. Dan, you in the path of Sandy? We are going to get a lot of rain and high winds starting Monday night here in Toronto.

Good luck with Sandy. I to am not looking forward to what is coming. I harvested also and left the green ones on my plants. Hopefully we will pull through in one piece.

We made it through the storm relatively unscathed. All three hoophouses were destroyed but I'm hoping to recovered everything if we don't get a freeze tonight. Fingers crossed.

Great idea! I could save about 40 plants for another week or 2 if I did that now assuming no more storms like Sandy. Like you we took a direct hit and were assaulted for 36 hours. There is always next year, I just hate to leave 1000+ green pods, sure do look and taste better ripe.
