Roper2008 2013 Grow

Thought I would start a glog for the first time. Hopefully this year will be a little less rain, had
too much early season last year, which lead to leaf disease's.

Here is what I will be growing

Hi Linda
Likin' the "OB report"... Your seedlings are looking happy to be out. It looks like we'll have Gochus and Rheza peppers in common this year. Good luck with your season!

Thanks, I'm going to try homemade kimchi this summer and see if I like it. I know I like cabbage. The Rheza I have grown before. I'm
going to dry them into powder. They have a great sweet flavor and hot too.

I agree, this is one of my favourite stages too. Good luck with the tomato planting! What types are you growing this year?

Hi stefan, I'm excited about my tomatoes too. I'm most looking forward to Amazon Chocolate. I've read good reviews on this one.
Also on my grow list is, Italian Heirloom, Dester, Indian Stripe, Cherokee Purple, German Red Strawberry, Casino Chips, Egg Yolk,
Sungold F1, Pink Bumblebee, Tommy Toe, plus a few others. I'm going to buy another dehydrater, probably the excaliber, so I
can make tomato powder and sundried tomatoes.

Cool! I have some traditional recipes for a number of types of Kimchi if you're interested later. If you've never made it before, my advice is to make it in small batches and eat it up before making more. Kimchi has a live lactobaccillus culture, and will become increasingly sour as time goes by. You don't want it to sit in the refrigerator too long. Cheers!

Beaver Dam- This one grew so fast from seed. Planted it later than the rest and it caught up and has the first flower open.
It's in a small pot, I have to transplant it today. Fuzzy picture

I am in the process of hardening all my plants. It has been very warm here.

Thanks Bonnie. I'll plant out as soon as they are completely harden off. Pretty soon....If I hadn't followed my
own glog, I would have never found it....Ha, ha, ha!!!!

Looks very good. I had problems with the Dorset Naga also this year. One I really wanted. Plants look great though.

TFM Scotch Bonnet ?? Does this look like a bonnet?

Great update, Linda. Good to see you and your plants are doing well! When you look at the leaves you might think it's not a Chinense but when I saw your other pictures I noticed all the leaves of your Chinense are quite narrow. Except for the Safi Red, those are width :D I wouldn't be surprised the leave shape will change a bit more like Chinense once temperatures are higher and the plant is outside. Good luck with the hardening off, that won't happen over here for another month.

Hi Stefen. Most of my chinense leaves are kinda narrow. This year they have not grown as well as other years.
I'm especially surprised at my Carolina Reapers, they have been growing very slow. Once I get them outside,
they should grow faster, hopefully.... I now notice the fuzziness on the Orange Blobs......

Look what I found at the Navy Exchange. $1.29 for a 6 cell. I hope they turn out to be the real deal.

Plants look good. I'm doing some eggplant and tomatoes this year too. I've only grown peppers the past few years but decided to expand my horizons this year. Hope your TFM grows true. Good luck!

I find that the superhots are hit and miss when they are growing indoors. I had 3 or 4 completely stall out on my this year. They usually start up again when you take them outside, as you say, but I find it is always a decision whether or not to take up room in the garden if I know they are well behind the pack. It often becomes a numbers game for me.

Great updates!

Thanks, I really don't like growing peppers indoor. I only overwintered one pepper last year. A pequin.
Today I have to start a new Aji Lemon. I thought I had 2 plants, but I can only find one. The only one
I have was chomped on either by a bird or a squirel. The only part left was the baby leaves and one
inch of stem above that. All the plants were on the deck. All day and night. Could also have been
a rat.....
