Sandwich of the Month

Hey y'all. A recent discussion with THP about Cuban sandwich's in another thread has inspired me to begin this thread.

What is a sandwich? According to wiki...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich

I myself shall endeavor to post a Sandwich of the Month for every month. This month I tip my hat to one of my favorite sandwiches, The Cuban.

While I encourage y'all to post up your Cuban for SOTM, for the sake of popularizing the thread, feel free to post your sandwich. Be it BLT, turkey sub, gyro, po'boy, etc.

Some rules.

1 ~ Meet the criteria as linked above according to wiki.

2 ~ True, burgers are sandwiches but as we have other threads devoted to them, we will not include them here in this thread. No burgers.

3 ~ List ingredients and methods of how the sandwich was put together.

4 ~ No matter if it is a classic reuben or tuna salad, include a heat ingredient.

5 ~ Pics are mandatory. Talk is cheap. Show us the money!

6 ~ No tortillas. We have taco threads already, and that also means no stinkin' "wraps".

7 ~ Have fun.

I'll post up my sandwich shortly.

Bon appetit!

Cool and the gang.

I picked up some country style pork ribs today to start in the crock pot.

I aim to pull the potted pig and then get down brown with it on the flat top.

It'll be rockin'.
Ooops.

didna' mean to repost.

Si senor Fiddy.

This thread went full on Zombie.

Original rules for the thread dictated that ANY sammich can be posted

at ANY time.

Not necessarily SOTM.

Posty up here or THP's sammich thread, which gets more play these days and is a damn good thread too.

Pork...Check!
I bought a whole picnic shoulder for less than $5.00.
It gets the rubdown tonight.
It'll be a sandwich weekend, barring any unforeseen setbacks (like friggin mother's day).

Country style ribs in the Jezebel crock pot.

Hmmmm.

What are we to do with these?

Pulled and slapped on a plancha for a Cubano I reckon.

Did y'all see on the news that ferry service has been restored to Cuba?

I'd love to drag my dear sweet wife and ma to Cuba.

Them for the picodillo and me for the fishing.

Okay me too for the picodillo too.

I'm game.

I like WW for ham sandwiches for some reason, so I think it's cool and the gang for a Cuban, although probably a bit unconventional ...

I prefer a lack of convention, anyways ...

Los Azules de Tejas, Muy Bien!!!

I'd fistmouth that in my piehole on the double!!

I reckon me and the mrs. would do a backyard slap-dangle over a bite of that righteous grub.

Because I'm not a soft lover.

Like when I worked en El Palacio de los Jugos in Little Havana back in '87.  We had this little South American Titslinger named Lucia who squeezed the oranges.

We called them her "naranjas". And she squeezed them well!

Got a little mojofication on her behalf.

But I'm happily married now. Rings and all (Thumb included)!

And that's why I'd gladly besa el culo out of a sandwich like that!

Da'le!!!!!

Much obliged for the kind words y'all.

Fitty I'm lookin' forward to seein' your good grubness this weekend too!

The Juice Palace.

And a hot chula squeezin' oranges.

Thats my kinda joint.

Some of those dates/places/facts might have been fudged....

I was aiming for my best "TB style" post. :)

You NAILED the sandwich innards!! That pork looks awesome!
We could debate round and round about using whole wheat instead of Cuban bread...
But we'd just be wasting breath that could be used for inhaling beers.

So let's just inhale beers and agree to disagree.

Correctamundo senor.

Surely the whole wheat 'thang is not an apropos Cuban.

But that was a TB 'thang.

Along with the sriracha.

I almost forgot to include a hotness factor and it was a last minute call.

Were it not for the fact that mrs. blues was going to eat some of the pulled pork

I would have jacked that sheeit up man style with lots of spiceeneszxt!

I'm torn on the hotness factor too.
Cuban food is not hot-spicy like other hispanic/latin (I can never remember which way to call it) food can be.
Pickled 'penos or serranos might replace pickles. Your sriracha mustard was a good call.

I'm going to drop something in here, I think, tonight ...

I need to go arrange a picture of the players ...

I'm a little drunky, i felt like have a nice brew after looking up wheebz' brew of the evening ...

ok, yeah, here we go ... it's on the donkey king ...
