Second Sauce of the Summer

The second summer sauce is a desert sauce.

I used fresh blueberries, Moruga Scorpions and wild Chiltepin peppers (what a bizarre looking plant!). Got the blueberries going in a simple syrup. While reducing, I started another simple syrup infused with the peppers. After combining them, the sauce needed tweaking. So... Woodford Reserve to the rescue. That helped, but cinnamon and a small amount of cider vinegar became the ties that bound it all together. I let it reduce some more, adding more bourbon to taste.

So, a brilliant dark blue Blueberry Bourbon Scorpion Chiltepin sauce. It paired awesomely with the blueberry cobbler that had candied Reapers baked inside.
