Sending seeds - US / AUS - AUS / US

I want to send a few seeds to a mate in Pasadena USA (sent from Australia)
Can I chuck a few dime bags into an envelope or jiffy bag and post away?
Is it likely to be picked up by US customs?
Thanks

Use an envelope and dime bags. Make sure you pad the bag with folded paper, newspaper works good or a birthday card get the jist?
Costs about 2.30 or close to that way and of about 200 that i have sent only about 5 have not got there. Different story if sending dried pods. Make sure to properly label the bags to . Ex Bhut Jolokia / C.Chinense.

So far I haven't had any customs issues with US or Aussie mailings. As Nova said, you should properly label any and all materials in the envelope with Genus (Capsicum) species (Annuum, Pubescens, etc.) and variety (Bhut Jolokia). From everything I've read, there are no Capsicum species on the invasive species / quarantine listing, so there shouldn't be a problem if proper precautions are taken.
