Skullbikers 2019 Indoor/Outdoor NOT PEPPERS Glog

If you happen across anyone in your area that sells aged/composted pine bark fines, or mixes based on the same, give it a try for container media.  And if you can get it cheap enough - and it's typically pretty cheap, being a Florida natural resource - it's the best thing down here for raised beds.  Can't say enough good about it...

I know you probably have a million other things going on right now, but just thought I'd throw that out.
I will check around for it when Im out and about. Too bad I had to leave my approx 15 yards of awesome container media behind.

Ugh...  My house could burn down, and I probably wouldn't feel half as bad about it, as losing my garden gear.
.
If you see some local nursery using it, or some local landscaper (the more likely), try to get a contact.  I'd also be interested to know what it goes for in your area.  My buddy gets 45 yards of it at a time delivered, and goes through that in 2-3 months.  But I can't get him pinned down to buy into a share of it, so you can see where I'm going with this. :)

And so it begins, time to get the fall veggie grow going. Here are a couple of pic of my tomato seedlings.

First up, Tomatoberry.

And, some Waltham Broccoli.

Fairly windy here today so a few avocados blew off. They must be about ready, only a couple hundred left on the tree. I better start looking up some recipes, and I better get the good ol freeze dryer set up and ready for action(will have to run some 220v wiring for that).

Also have Papaya starting to get ripe now.

A little update on the veggies. The tomatoes are doing very well so far.

I bought 4 cucumber starts from a local garden store and planted them in a 30? gallon tub. I will put up a trellis as soon as they start vining.

The Cucumbers are growing rapidly, today I have to remove the protection tubes while I can still get them off and then put up the trellis for them.

Be ready to defend the cukes.  Caterpillars, spider mites, and powdery mildew, all love the traditional varieties down here.
.
I actually started growing burr gherkins because of this.  Couldn't find them until ShowMeDaSauce hooked me up.  If you'd like to try the, PM me.

I am ready to defend Vegetables and Peppers! Will pass on the burr gherkins, I grew them several years ago and am not a fan.

Going totally tubular, man! My latest somewhat of an experiment to harden off some of my veggies seemed to work out pretty good so I even carried it over to some peppers. The Mountain Dew bottle tubes cut out enough UV so I can set them out in direct sunlight. By the time they are sticking out of the tube they are hardened off it seems, but do have to give them a little drink every day because at 90+ I think it gets fairly hot. So far has worked awesome on the cucumbers and broccoli, I have some  cabbage, cauliflower, and dill starts in some now.
