seeds Starting Seeds

Well I am starting several Capsicum chinense style plants over the weekend.
Was wondering is it best to soak the seeds first then plant and what solution is used ?
Or just plant the seeds in prepared soil..

Thanks
Robert

I just planted my first batch in peat pellets...I had really good germination rates even with my Habs...but I did have several "seed helmets" where the seed casing doesn't come off without a little help. I soaked my second round and expect to see the first sprouts tomorrow or Monday. Soaking is supposed to help with the seed helmet issue and get them to start a little quicker. I just used water...there are much more experienced folks on here though. Go to the glogs area and surf through some of their threads. A ton of great info in there.

i do not soak my seeds, i use a spray bottle to keep the soil moist and in return that keeps the seed soft and ocasionally i'll have a shell that is a little tougher for the seedling to get off but they usually get them off in time
