The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2015

Today launches The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2015, geared towards growers from this region.  Since there appears to be disagreement on what states, and areas, actually comprise the Pacific Northwest, I will use a broad definition, in order to include more growers.  If anyone thinks the definition could be even more broad, it can always be changed.  Come one, come all.

Oregon
Washington
Alaska
Northern California
Idaho
Montana
Wyoming
British Columbia

I am from the Rogue Valley, in southern Oregon, so, I will begin with a couple of shots from my yard, which over looks the Rogue River.

Will post an update today with photos, here is my one liner for each plant a grew this year

Pepper, Jalapeno Cracked - always great.  Will grow ever year
Pepper, Giant Jalapeno - always great.  Will grow every year
Pepper, Tobasco - wanted to make some tobasco sauce but these take a really long time to ripen.  Not sure I will grow next year.
Pepper, Habanero Red Caribbean - hot pepper and the 2nd year growing.  Not sure I will grow next year
Pepper, Jalapeno - always great.  Will grow every year.
Pepper, Bahamian goat ISO - awesome!  overwintering this one
Pepper, MOA Yellow SB - awesome!  overwintering this one
Pepper, MOA Red SB - awesome!  overwintering this one
Pepper, Lemon  Drop - got pretty leggy and didn't get many ripe pods.  Probably because it was in mostly shade.  Won't grow again.
Pepper, 7 pot jonah - great pod.  Won't overwinter but will grow again.
Pepperoncini - grew to make picked pepperoncinis but it got overtaken by two peppadew plans (I was doing square foot gardening in this bed)
Peach Habanero - Grew 5 or 6 of these plants and my kids loved picking them.  Will grow again.
Piment d'Espelette - dried all of these pods.  Will make powder and decide then.
Trinidad scorpion yellow CARDI - huge pods!  May overwinter.
Pepper, Matay - dried all these pods. Will make powder and decide then.
UMCD (smileyguy) OP - got a few ripe pods off this plant.  Still a lot of green ones left.
Peppadew - huge plant.  Made great cream cheese filled poppers!
Biker Billy Jalapeno - I think this one died.  May grow again
Habanero, Hot Paper Lantern - leggy plant but nice pods.  Probably will grow again.
Pimenta de Neyde x Naga Suomi F1 - I think this one turned out to be a regular Pimenta de Neyde.  Plant and pods were all purple.  The picture I found online shows it as red.
Pimenta De Neyde x Douglah F2 (CMP) OP - Orange pods that I haven't tried yet.  Still TBD.

Madballz Jungle  Rain #452 - Took a long time to ripen but the shape is very interesting.  May grow again.

CAP 215 - wilds get huge and take a long time to ripen.  I'm waiting for the first one to ripen.
Scotch Bonnet Sweet - huge pod, leggy plant and makes great poppers.  May grow again.
Yellow Rocoto - no ripe pods yet - won't grow again
Orange Manzano - no ripe pods yet - won't grow again
CGN 19198 - no ripe pods yet - won't grow again
Zimbabwe  Bird (ISO) C. Frutensense - lots of peppers that I have kept for seed trains
Pepper, Aji Limon - Lots of small pods.  Won't grow again

Trinidad Scorpion Butch T x Douglah Brown F5 OP - prolific plant.  Won't grow again as I grew too many super hots.
Jays PGS x Primo 7 F3 - prolific!!!!

SB7J F5 - Awesome!  Overwintering

Okay, if you had to recommend just two, which two? I think I would go with Scotch Bonnet Fariah, and Scotch Bonnet FTL.

What didn't you like about the Aji limon?

Bahamian goat by far.  Not sure on #2.  The aji limon tastes great but with my limited garden space I'll prioritize other peppers above this one next year.

I was only going to overwinter 1 plant but now I'm doing 5.

I would say I had a good first year growing superhots. Here is most of what I grew and some are still ripening. I wish the growing season was longer because some of my plants just pushed out their first few pods. I guess I'll end up with a bunch of bonchis  :surprised: My plant leaves were turning yellow and pale and I found out they were nitrogen deficient . I know this because I fertilized the plants and they are turning back to a darker green. It rained quite a bit too so I was just leaving the plants alone as I was also busy with getting married. My point was I was feeding compost tea but with all of the rain I didn't want to water them. I could push the plants with more aggressive feeding next season :D

My plants are still very happy thanks to their hoop house.  It's getting temps in the upper 80's (if not more) every day still, and its very humid inside thanks to the morning dew.  I think I'm gonna see how long I can keep these guys alive this winter.  With El Nino, its supposed to be wet and warm.  I'd love it if I could keep them alive through the winter.  We'll see.

These are starting to come in: supposed to be chocolate, but it looks more caramel

These too:

It's starting to get really wet here, so I may just chop everything down and hang the ones with big unripe pods to see what ripens...I'm about done dealing with pepper plants. I need to tone it down next year. This is a lot of work!
