Too late to top?

One of my MOA SBs just went into full growth spurt mode. However, it's just a stalk with a ton of leaves... no branches. I thought of giving it a little topping to get it to branch. Is it too late in the season to do that?
 
I have around 80 plants at different stages. I was thinking of experimenting by topping a couple this late, and seeing how they perform against those I don't top. I'm not getting fruit on any of my MOAs yet, that I've seen.
