Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

The White PDN x BMJ sprouted for me. We should really name these plants. PDN x BMJ is pretty hard to type on a phone.

YES! That's awesome, Aravind; at least now I know at least
some of the seed is viable! That makes me really happy
How many planted/sprouted? I can't wait to see some pics...

You and  Gary (Snagglepuss) are the only ones reporting success
with germination so far.  His violet sprouted 18 December.

I know what you mean about the name
'Tis the season of the naming.
Feel free to chime in with some suggestions.
A few have already been made earlier in the
thread. In the end, Tristen should do the honors
since it's his cross.

  Here's to a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Out of 10 seeds 1 sprouted for each. Though the violet just sprouted a couple hours ago

First is Violet. Second is White

Alright, you have one of each   :woohoo:

That's not an awesome germination rate,
about the same as mine, but maybe some
more will germinate for you.

Way to go!

BTW, thanks for posting the pics

I know you have an AeroGarden. Would you recommend culling any future seedlings or not. I don't think two seedlings would be good since they are competing for nutrients.

I think the best way is to let them all grow out a little,
until there are a couple of true leaves, then if you want
to save some of the duplicates, just cut the ones you
want to root off below the surface of the sponge and
drop them into some water.  I just use distilled water.
Check here for a pic.

Good luck if you decide to give it a try.

Hey, Bobby!   :welcome:

PM sent.

Always good to have another victim participant
in the 2019 F7 grow of Tristen's cross.

Looking forward to seeing how you do with them.

Should be fun, being a victim I mean participant lol. Looking forward to being a part of a community grow.
I grew two Ghost pepper X pimenta de neydes and they were particularly prolific so should be cool to see how the humidity does for em. Ill start a glog once they break ground in the Aerogarden. Cant wait to taste one of these babies too.

Almost six weeks since first hooks emerged, and plants are
ready to pot up. These F7 are going into #3 nursery pots.
This will be their home for the duration. My plan is to prune
them to be small and net them to isolate. Will plant two more tomorrow:

You mix the happy frog and ocean forest? I couldn't tell a difference between that and straight ocean forest. I think I might run ocean forest with some coco and perlite added in. Probably worm castings too.

I have had good success with the HF OF mix. Years ago, I couldn't
make up my mind which I liked more in the store, so bought one of
each, then just decided to mix them together after really looking at
the contents of each one.

Oh and those plants are mighty far along already

Yeah, I wanted to get them going case I had to start over again.
Which I did   So there are plants from an AeroGarden test,
a seedling mix test, and a paper towel test spanning the time from
Nov. 8 until Dec 7    I'll just have to find room for them.
